Last night, Team Giannis (lead by Boston Celtics HEAD coach Joe Mazzulla) beat Team Lebron 184-175 in the 72nd NBA All-Star Game. Thanks to the fantasy draft (I miss East vs. West), the Boston Jays were separated, but both had massive nights, highlighted by Jayson Tatums ASG record 55 points in an MVP performance.
We all know that numbers get inflated during the ASG. There is little defense, although late in the 3rd quarter, we were treated to a Jay vs. Jay showdown. No bias; this was the best part of the game.
Both Jays lead their respective team in scoring. Jayson's dropping 50 burgers everywhere.
Next up, 50 in an NBA Finals: Presented by Youtube TV game.
The All-Star Game is supposed to be fun. I don't want to see guys playing lockdown D. Let's all stay healthy and put on a show for the people. That's exactly what the Jays did last night and it was fucking awesome. Yes, Banner 18 matters more than any of this, but enjoying the ride is all part of the journey. This season has been incredible so far and last night was a blast (plus I hit on Team Giannis ML +130). Jaylen looked bad ass in his Phantom of the Opera mask.
It was a great night for the Celtics. Hopefully everybody enjoys the much needed time off. Their season resumes Thursday night in Indiana. Boston's lead in the East is down to just a half-game with Milwaukee winning 12-straight. It should be a great end to the regular season, but I wanna just fast-forward to the playoffs.
P.S. Jayson was so poised in the MVP ceremonies. I fucking loved every second of it. He knows this record will get broken eventually and while it was a great showcase of his talents, there are much bigger fish to fry. The clip is from the post-game presser.

There are few people currently breathing that I hate more than Marjorie Taylor Greene. In November, I made a baby-viral TikTok bashing this fascist that was taken down for "bullying" because irony is alive and well! (it's still on Twitter, though)
She represents a podunk, racist, stuck in the 1830s district and even recently said she is miserable due to the job. I speak for all decent Americans when I say, feel free to resign. Nobody would be sad to see you go, bitch! Usually, I don't like using that term to refer to women, but MTG isn't a woman. She's a bitch, a cunt, and a vile human being. Any mean term you can think of, she is it. This thing is the embodiment of evil. The fact that they call themself a Christian is deplorable. It doesn't know the first thing about love thy neighbor.
I'm so fucking over this "anti-woke" witch hunt right now by the American Fascist Party. What does woke even fucking mean? They use it as a catch-all for progressive policies they don't like. Usually, these policies involve truth and equity, which GOPers hate more than freedom of expression. Sometimes my friends give me shit for caring about these issues since I used to bash "SJWs" and love to say ignorant things for shock value laughs, but my brain wasn't fully developed then (and it's my life's biggest regret, although since I've learned so much from those days it's hard to call it a regret, but I do wish it never happened). One look at MTG shows that she still needs to fully develop, too (despite being nearly 50). She looks like an extra from the failed GEICO Caveman sitcom from 2007.
This bitch was fully involved with the J6 Coup attempt and should be in a jail cell, not voting on legislation that affects nearly 400 million people. We don't need a national divorce, we need all fascists expelled from American government pronto. 14th Amendment!!!! MTG doesn't care about what's best for the American people. One look at its voting record shows that. This same creature who needed a refresher on the Holocaust being "bad" belongs nowhere close to Congress. Of all days to say this shit, of course they pick today. What a fucking joke.
Part of me almost wants this. Blue America would be so much better than Red America that it wouldn't even be funny. Blue would have nationalized public health care, better public education, and gun laws that attempt to stop mass shootings. Red America would be poor, broken, and void of any art or culture.
However, it's ONE NATION. And as crazy as these racist, homophobic, transphobic, anti-progress pieces of shit are, they will not win. All the pearl-clutching and regressive policies are some last-ditch effort by the GQP before they're made totally irrelevant by the next generations. No wonder why they want to raise the voting age and love gerrymandering. It blows my mind anybody can support this monster. Happy President's Day.
P.S. You live in GEORGIA, a purple state with two Democratic Senators, you dumb Qunt. You'd need to find a new state under your own fucked up Civil War II fantasy. Please start smoking three packs a day.
Dozonlife is a publication that tackles everything that life throws at you, and 20 years ago today, one of the greatest tragedies in Rhode Island history took place. The Station Nightclub fire in West Warwick claimed 100 lives and injured hundreds of others. The direct ripples were felt statewide and throughout New England. It's the 4th-deadliest nightclub fire in American history. Events like this are why I wrote the "we need a term for negative anniversaries" blog because it does not feel right to use a term like that to describe the amount of time that's passed since February 20th, 2003. May all 100 victims rest in peace.
The fire must've happened during February break because I was in 5th grade then, but I remember seeing coverage on the news that night. I was at my dad's old house in the backroom, watching tv on a luxurious 32-inch picture-in-picture set. The images and videos were horrifying. I've seen them too many times over the last 20 years. Even though this tragedy predates "camera phones" being the norm, in a sick twist of fate, a WPRI cameraman filmed the fire from the beginning for a piece on nightclub safety. Only three days earlier, 21 people lost their lives in a crush at a Chicago nightclub. Unfortunately, it was a combination of the fire and ensuing crush due to many heading for the same exit that padded the Station's death toll. I can't even begin to imagine the fear the victims felt in their final moments. Being in a fire is easily one of my greatest fears, and this tragedy played a significant role in my going-out strategies for the rest of my life. These people were just tryna see a show and have a good time but never made it home. I've spent more nights than I'd care to remember in crowded bars and going to live shows trying to do the same thing. You probably have too. I always try to be close to an exit if God-forbid something were to happen. Unfortunately, for the victims of this senseless tragedy, negligence by the owners of The Station undoubtedly multiplied the victim count. The club was overpacked with a lack of sprinklers. The soundproofing was highly flammable and combined with shitty pyrotechnics. Still, the most egregious problem, IMO, was blocked/poorly marked exits (highlighted by a scumbag bouncer that stopped people from leaving out of "the band's exit"). After this senseless tragedy, some positive changes were made, but not enough. The Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act has been sitting in Congress since 2003. It blows my mind that people can't agree that the costs and added safety are worth it, but hopefully, someday, that changes before another tragedy takes place. I just had to pay my respects to the victims today and didn't want to wait until after I talked about Jayson and Jaylen's excellent performances in the All-Star Game. I was only 11 then, but I remember that night and what happened in West Warwick all too well. It was jarring. We should never forget the tragedy that took place 20 years ago today in West Warwick, RI and learn from the mistakes that lead to this senseless loss of life. May all the victims rest in peace, and those still living with the physical and mention scars from that night find peace.
Song: Running Out of Time Artist: Paramore Album: This is Why (2023) "Running Out of Time" would've been Thursday's SOD, but I posted before it debuted at 11 am EST. Look at me with a semi-normal sleep schedule after nearly a year of passing out at 5 am! This video is super trippy (there's major Alice in Wonderlands on acid vibes), and of course, Hayley sounds and looks incredible. I fucking love this album; I have to see Paramore live. If you haven't listened to This is Why yet, get with the program!
The term baseball-lifer is one of the biggest baseball cliches going, but cliches are based in reality, and Tim McCarver was the embodiment of a baseball lifer. His playing career spanned from 1959-1980, making him one of only 31 major leaguers to play games in four different decades.
People my age will best remember McCarver from his time calling games, and big ones at that. The two-time World Series champ (he was also a member of the 1980 Phillies but wasn't on the playoff roster) was part of 24 Fall Classics broadcasts (I'm trusting Wiki over Passan), mainly as a color commentator. Tim's final World Series broadcast was Game 6 of the 2013 World Series when the Boston Red Sox beat the St. Louis Cardinals, two of his former teams. Say what you want about him, but Tim McCarver is a baseball legend. When I think of big games growing up, he was on the mic. The St. Louis Cardinal Hall of Famer spent parts of 12 of his 21 seasons playing for the Redbirds. In 1967 he was runner-up to teammate Orlando Cepeda in MVP voting. That season was capped off with a World Series win over the "Impossible Dream" Red Sox in seven games. In 21 games over three World Series, McCarver slashed .311/.384/.300 with 2 HRs and 11 RBI.
McCarver also had briefs stints with the Expos and Red Sox, but spent the bulk of his career catching two of the greatest pitchers of all time, Bob Gibson and Steve Carlton with the Cardinals and Phillies. He was beloved by his teammates and colleagues and knew the game inside and out.
McCarver, known for his knowledge and story telling was beloved within baseball. He even recorded a Jazz album in 2009. Tim McCarver was 81 years old and passed away in his hometown of Memphis, TN, surrounded by his family. Death is almost always sad, but knowing someone got the most out of life makes dealing with the loss a little easier. It's safe to say that Tim McCarver got the most out of his. May he rest in peace.
Congrats to HEAD coach Joe Mazzulla; it's a well-deserved promotion (even though he hates using timeouts). You're making the Ocean State and all of New England proud. A New Englander leading the Celtics to its 18th title would be a fantastic narrative to this incredible season.
Without I*e Ud*** the Celtics haven't skipped a beat. They're 42-17. Both Jays are All-Stars, and Derrick White is the defending Eastern Conference Player of the week. We almost beat the Bucks with our JV team. This Muscala dude looks like a great pickup. There's only one negative about this move. Unfortunately, Joe's promotion retires one of my favorite memes.
You sure did Joe and now you're officially getting the recognition you deserve. It's the right move. The dude is coaching Team Giannis in the ASG (bring back East vs. West). The Celtics have been a machine. I'm enjoying the ride, but I'm ready for another Finals run! Let's stay healthy and end New Englands four + year championship drought!!!!
Song: Lifetime Artist: SG Lewis Album: AudioLust & HigherLove (2023) This song came on Ryan Radio recently, and I dig it. There are some low-key Tame vibes. Like a Dollar Store Tame, but sometimes you can find great shit at the Dollar Store. If you buy your greeting cards elsewhere, you're fucking up!
I love watching football, but I do not love the NFL. I mean, I love the games, storylines, and history, but it's a fucked up organization. It's not the Catholic church, although there is still plenty of questionable touching. The NFL doesn't care about the players that make the game possible. Just look at its record with healthcare. The NFL is modern-day big tobacco with the information about concussions they knowingly withheld. Deflategate was a witch hunt. Need I go on?
I understand that players shouldn't be gambling on games for the "integrity of the game," but it's reaaaallly hard to villainize gambling when there are commercials for DraftKings, FanDuel, multiple casinos, and TV channel-sponsored betting after every punt and time out. The New Orleans Saints call the Caesars Super Dome home, and that's not in homage to the salad.
On March 7th, 2022, the NFL suspended then-Atlanta Falcons WR Calvin Ridley for the entire 2022 season after news came out that he gambled on NFL games in 2021 while away from the team.
According to sources, Ridley bet at least $3.900 on six different bets that included Falcons money line. All six bets lost.
Again, I don't think it's right for current NFL players to bet on games, but it ended up costing Ridley over 11 million dollars in forfeited earnings. That's fucked up. The punishment does not fit the offense. When players have hit women or committed violent crimes, suspensions are notably shorter. How did Dante Stallworth get the same suspension for killing someone (DUI)? It's laughable that the league can make millions on gambling, but an injured player places a few parlays, and it's worse than child abuse or sexual assault in the NFL's eyes. Hopefully, Ridley has learned his lesson and will succeed in Jacksonville. He'd be a great piece for Trevor Lawrence on a team whose stock is only rising after a surprise division title and first playoff win in five years. If the NFL doesn't reinstate him, they better stop cashing checks from casinos. Don't forget to buy a Deshaun Watson jersey from NFLshop.com! I've lost more bets than I ever want to know the actual number of, but this is fucking brutal.
That's way worse than an eight leg teaser going 7-1 (something that happened to me three times in 2022).
I don't know if you've been paying attention, but countless red/southern/fascist states have been banning books, attacking LGBTQ+ rights, and attempting to dismantle public education this year. It's fucking terrifying. There's a reason they're trying to outlaw history and keep the general public as ignorant as possible. I've made references to these horrors in other blogs and covered some in others. I want to dive deeper into these topics on DOL. They just make me so fucking upset that it brings me to the verge of the early checkout, and since I've been making some significant improvements in my life, I'd like to avoid that at all costs. I don't want to have my head in the sand, but sometimes for my own mental health I have to look away. That solves nothing and is why I'm least putting a couple paragraphs together right now.
Please watch this video, then explain why all this regressive, discriminatory legislation is sooooo important. Why focus on creating jobs and opportunities when we can bully trans kids and drag queens? Who cares about affordable housing, fair wages, and clean air when we can criminalize freedom of expression and art? Why stop gun violence when you can kill trans people? Party of limited government my fucking ass. They want to eradicate LGBTQ+ people. That is not hyperbole.
These lawmakers are truly despicable people. This fat fuck shouldn't have any say in what HEALTH CARE is best for others. [As a fat (but down 45), I can say that]
Tennessee ranks 36th in child well-being and THIS is what they're making their biggest priority. What a fucking disgrace.
I don't care who I offend, piss off, or lose the support from. If you support these hateful laws, you are a piece of human garbage. Between January 6th (and the lack of accountability), voting restrictions, the shit I've already mentioned, and so much more that I don't have the mental strength to dive into rn, this country is in one hell of a democratic backslide. I believe in God, but I fucking hate the religious right. They're no different than the Taliban. Believe whatever the fuck you want, but you have no right to force your beliefs on others. They're the real indoctrinators. They don't know the first fucking thing about what it means to live a Christ-like life. It's love thy neighbor, not destroy them. It breaks my heart that people I love support this garbage, but I hope one day they wake the fuck up and see the error of their ways. P.S. I stand with the trans community, and I'm putting my money where my mouth is. I love trans people. I've been jerking off to your hottest women since Bush was in the White House. You are valid and human, just like everybody else. I don't understand it all, but that isn't my fucking job or responsibility. I had this take when I was a teen about gay people, and it's the same for trans ones. Why would anybody willingly pick this, given how they're treated? They wouldn't. You are born gay. You are born trans. It's not a fucking choice. There are centuries of evidence supporting that, but some people try to erase that history. I am so fucking sorry these bigots want to strip you of everything. They will not win. It's always darkest before dawn. In an act of protest/wanting to do it for years, Ole Dozo will be debuting the Rhonda Sandtits persona sometime in 2023.
Double P.S.
DOL tackles everything, but no matter how dark topics may be; I want to keep things light. I can talk about serious things while still being my hilarious-self. Idgaf if this got no love on twitter. Ron DeShasaway is perfect. It's what he needs to do. Cannonball off the Golden Gate Bridge one time for us, Ronny!
Seriously, watch him move with the sound off and tell me this isn't the biggest flamer you've ever seen. There's nothing wrong with that...unless you're actively trying to destroy those people.
I loved Thomas the Tank Engine as a child. My grandpa was a huge train guy. I had the wooden whistles and everything. Before I knew about football, I knew about trains and they were my fucking swag. I spent about 15 minutes looking through my camera roll for a picture of a young Doz in a conductor hat for this blog and came up empty. To make up for that I figured I'd share some crazy train facts since trains are hot in the news forsome reason.
#1. American trains carry well over 1 billion TONS of cargo a year!
#2. The first steam locomotive was invented in 1804 by British inventor Richard Trevithick.
#3. In 2017 the United States Department of Transportation repealed (got rid of) legislation designed to increase railway safety. What a strange thing to do!
#4. 2022 Action-Comedy film Bullet Train made 239.3 million dollars at the box office.
#5. In September of 2018 former President and current fascist Donald Trump chose profits for special interest groups over protecting the American people from the dangers of train derailments.
#6. San Francisco rock band Train's 2001 hit "Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)" peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 (this part isn't technically a fact, but that's semi-crazy considering how big that song was, def would've assumed it hit #1, but 2001 was a loaded year) and was nominated for five Grammys (winning two) at the 44th Annual Grammy Awards
#7. Norfolk Southern (the rail company who's train crashed, causing this disaster) offered $25,000 (less than Cam Thomas was fined by the NBA for saying "No Homo") to help the nearly 5,000 people forced to evacuate due to the derailment.
#7.5. Norfolk Southern since increased their donation, but it still isn't good enough.
#8. The CEO of Norfolk Southern's name is Alan Shaw.
#9. Despite loving Steve Martin and John Candy's work, I've never seen Planes, Trains and Automobiles in its entirety in a single sitting.
#10. These are Norfolk Southern's top 10 investors. Corporate greed is responsible for this disaster and a lack of regulation (among other inhumane policies) will lead to the end of humanity as we know it. In case you forgot, it's actually the government's job to protect its citizens!
