Last night Tyreek Hill showed his blazing speed during a then game-tying touchdown. After showing no situational awareness (scoring too quickly to allow the Patriots to march right down and kick a game winning field goal) Tyreek Hill was greeted by the bird and some bud light by Patriot Fans.
You see stuff like this at pretty much every game, every week.
I'm sure he wasn't talking shit to the fans at all as he ran up to them after scoring his 3rd touchdown of the night. No way, Tyreek Hill is a model citizen. Should someone have thrown beer on him? Of course not, it's not smart but lets get off the fucking high-horse and fake caring, especially over a scumbag like Tyreek Hill. It's fucking beer, it's harmless, it's funny. It's not a big deal, but since it's the Patriots and was a nationally televised game it's like this fan shot him. This isn't abuse. If you wanna learn about abuse maybe you should talk to Tyreek Hill's fiance? If you seriously say "Stay Classy" about an opposing fan base having a fan do something stupid (especially working for PHILLY) you can suck a kick rocks. All cities have shitty fans. Just like all cities have good fans. You can't lump everybody together (excluding Philly of course)
YOU GUYS!!!!! He could've gotten hurt!!!
In order to get ahead of this the Patriots did a classic 2018 overreaction by banning this fan FOR LIFE. Over sorta hitting Tyreek Hill with beer.
Can that be seriously enforced? As long as you have a semi-different haircut and don't buy the tickets directly how can this be enforced? This is so fucking stupid my blood is boiling. Anybody who agrees with this decision needs to write a 5 page paper explaining why. Kick the kid out sure, but this is such overkill. If you want to keep the players "safe" maybe they shouldn't go running up the stands?
What world do we live in? A millionaire is going after a stupid drunk fan for a truly harmless act. A scummy act, but harmless act. Unless Hill is a celiac then what are we doing here?
Of course the biggest scumbag agent in the game Drew Rosenhaus wants to take legal action. I am actually fucking pissed right now, leave this poor, likely drunk kid alone. No need to ruin his life for fucking spilling beer on a dude who has beat up multiple women. Kick him out of the game and move on.
This is not the same as the Yankee fans pouring beer on the A's fan because the A's fan was just minding his own business when the Yankees (before they got eliminated in 4 games, being outscored at home 20-4 in the ALDS to division rival Boston) were blowing the doors off the A's in the Wild Card Game. That was legitimate scumbag behavior. But what it's not like is when a Yankee fan threw a fucking beer bottle at Craig Kimbrel in the bullpen. That is the shit that could hurt someone. That's a million times worse than what this 21 year old mass hole did and it's not even a debate. Look all fan bases have shitty fans, just like all demographics have shitty people. Where it gets dangerous is when you lump everybody together. But to say all fans from X city are scumbags because of isolated incidents is wrong (again, Philly withstanding) They don't represent everybody. Same way hating an entire group of people because of the shittiness of a few is racist. Use your brain to make judgement. I don't think I've ever agreed with a take more.

is censoring the middle finger the most pointless censoring of all-time? Of course squid nation bleacher report does.

With the Red Sox playing Game 2 of the ALCS and the Patriots hosting the undefeated Chiefs on SNF it was huge sports night in New England.
The Patriots showed the NFL the road to the Super Bowl in the AFC still goes through Foxboro in a 43-40 win over Kansas City. Lots of good and bad things to take away from the game, but I'm not really trying to get into the X's and O's, especially since the Pats were on TV #2 most of the night, so I wasn't paying as close attention until the Sox ended. I did see this play live though and it fired me up. After seeing their lead slip away Brady took things into his own hands...or should I say FEET? (Because he rushed for a touchdown instead of passing, get it!?!?)
There's nothing I love like seeing the gazelle get a head full of steam and get those crazy legs going. It never gets old, thank you for not eating nightshades, Tom. Yes, we also refer to the goat as the Clydesdale as well, that too is acceptable, lots of animals are allowed when referring to TB12. The will to win in this man gets my blood pumping. He's more inspiring than any Dr. Ford that's for sure. Brady will run when he has to and is a lot better at than people give him credit for. Heart of Lion like Kid Cudi.
Shades of his run against the Ravens in the 2014 Divisional Round. 3rd and goal down 14 Brady risked it all to get in the end zone. Football is an emotional ass game, IMO the most of the major sports. Dude's are literally putting their life on the line every play, and while we've seen Tommy get fired up on some runs before. Rarely have we seen him go through dudes to get into the end zone.
It'd be nice to see Develin fight for the extra yard like that.
This man is 41 years old...pump faked, broke a tackle, hezied to the goal line, then looked like Mike Alscott trucking two (2) Kansas City "defenders" to retake the lead. I get it people hate Brady because he wins all the time, has a perfect life, all the money in the world, is incredibly healthy, and has re-branded the word Goat entirely, but just look at the fire and desire this man still has after absolutely dominating the NFL since the world was reeling from a national tragedy. He's the best to ever play, and could've retired two years ago and that would still be the case, but he is still hungry (probably because he only eats lettuce and avocados) for more. Runs like that make me think he really will play to 45. His favorite ring is the next one. Never satisfied. The guy still can clearly ball out. Played one of the best 1 passing TD games of his night last night. No punts. The TD pass to Jules was perfectly lobbed. It reminded me a lot of the James White one earlier this year. Oh and Kansas City you think you're the new class of the AFC? Come into Foxboro and win a game that matters one time, and then maybe we'll start talking. I actually have a lot of love and respect for that organization, buy man talk about same old Chiefs. They'll end up 11-5 and losing their first playoff game like always. Obviously this team still has a long fucking way to go, but with a lot of season left, there is time to get everybody acclimated to this offense. Hopefully the defense won't give up 31 points in a half again, but to the Chiefs credit they have an incredibly dynamic offense with three of the top probably 10 play-makers in the NFL with Mahomes, Tyreek Hill and Hunt. BTW if you still think Kelce is better than Gronk, get your head examined this very second because there is a chance your head is looking like a Jack-o-lantern...hallow. Oh yeah, we're getting topical.
I'd say 30% chance he see 300.
LONG LIVE THE KING
Thanks to some timely hitting by Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr., and my son, Raffi "Baby Beluga" Devers the Red Sox were able to win last night 7-5 and tie the American League Championship Series at a game a piece.
We all know the story isn't about the bats, but the man who started the game for the Red Sox, David Price. The big takeaway is that for the first time in his postseason career, David Price's TEAM won a game that he started. In age where the pitcher win is de-valued; I guess this was like the baseball version of a tie? But hey, the Browns broke their losing streak with a tie and now have two whole wins, so maybe this is sign of brighter things to come? Price didn't personally win the game, so that story-line lives on another 5 days (at least), but most importantly, his team did. I will give him credit for this, he has been saying all the right things.
After 10 starts and 10 losses, thanks to 4.2 innings of 4 run ball (where he walked 4 men, and gave up 5 hits) David Price's team finally won a playoff game.
He did not win, Matt Barnes picked up the W. But standing ovations and really selective stats were in order after a 7.71 ERA appearance for a man making 31 million bucks a year.
I never want to hear about how hard it is to play in Boston again. This is how low the bar was with David Price that only allowing 4 runs in 4.2 was considered a big building block and cause for celebration.
Price was spotted a 2 run lead, which he promptly gave up, then the next inning gave up another 2 spot. Yes, Xander didn't do him any favors defensively, but the Red Sox offense did. Two early runs, then a 3 spot in the 3rd after he gave up a home run to Marwin Gonzalez that would still be in orbit if it wasn't for the banner it hit on the monster.
The 4th was the biggest bright spot, Price retired the side in order, then in the 5th after two quick outs, Price walked the next two men and was relieved for Matt Barnes, whomst was able to get out of the jam. Price had a chance to pick up an ugly, prime example why sabermetric people want to "kill the win" win, but his wildness lost him that chance.
What's crazy about this babying of David Price is that I'm totally fine with it. Whatever fucking works bro. It's like parenting or teaching. Not everything is cookie cutter for all people. If this is what works for david Price to not lose, let's do it. I think it's so fucking soft, but I want the Red Sox to win the World Series and they are (very likely) going to need David Price to be David Price in order to do so. So if we need give him standing ovations for not making it out of the 5th inning, I'll do it. At least to his credit that is sort of what playoff baseball is now, even with a team like the Red Sox with a questionable pen, it's all about the starter giving you as many outs as possible (usually 12) while the team still maintains the lead. Price left with the Red Sox ahead, so people were showing Price their appreciation of him not going 1.2 innings, 7 earned. It's like when you go to a movie with your girlfriend that you don't want to see, but know just going along with it will be better for you in the long run. If I was there last night I probably would've cheered too. I feel like David Price just wants to be loved and have people care about him as more than just a pitcher on a baseball team. Yes you're a person, and not just a baseball player. But to Red Sox fans, until you win on the biggest stages nobody is going to give a fuck about your bulldog. In Boston (at least I used to think) we just want to win. We're spoiled now. Like the Backstreet Boys, I don't care who you are, where you're from, what you did, as long as you ... win for me. I think David Price is a mental midget, softy who cannot get it done in the brightest of lights. He just doesn't have it. Something changes mentally for him. Idk what it is. Because he's pitched great in meaningful regular season games where the pressure to get to October is there. Most notably his performance in the 2013 American League Wild Card tie-breaker where he pitched a complete game victory against the Texas Rangers just so his team could get into the Wild Card game. Look at his 2015. After he got traded to the Blue Jays Price was unbelievable, in a playoff race to win the division, he went 9-1 with a 2.30 ERA in 11 starts down the stretch to make the playoffs. Finished 2nd int the Cy Young voting. Then his first playoff start, something changed, as he gave up 5 runs (2 homers) over 7. How do you go from 2.30 ERA to that? TBS can skew stats all they want about run support, but run support doesn't matter when your ERA is over 6. But again, if this is what Red Sox fans have to do for David Price to "work" I'm okay with it.
Like David Price did not pitch well, plain and simple. Yes the Red Sox won, but I'm still really worried about him going forward. He walked the potential tying, and go-ahead runs in his final inning.
It's just hard for me to wrap my head around this whole thing, like obviously I'm excited that the Red Sox won, they had to win this game or else IMO, the series was over, and yes, technically David Price did enough to not lose, but man oh man, as a Boston sports fan, it really is funny to see David Price get a standing ovation for being on the verge of losing the game. I guess there's positives to take from his 7.71 ERA performance, but man talk about a microcosm of the world we live in today. Where 4 earned runs and not making through 5 is considered a victory. That's how low the bar is for David Price. It's like if the garbage man took one of every 3 houses' garbage off the curb and the neighborhood threw him a parade for his hard work. I really wanted Price to get that 15th out to have a chance to win, but Cora for sure made the right move taking him out after the walks.
Because don't get it twisted, I want David Price to succeed. I actually like him and think he's a good pitcher. sure I'll say that he's a mental midget or a pussy, but I mean the stats back it up. Doesn't mean I'm rooting for him to fail. In his defense, a small extent the playoff win thing is a little overblown. Only because like last night where the bats took care of him, it is a team game. Price has pitched 4 quality starts in October, but still lost. He's had some bad luck. In game 3 of the 2014 ALDS (a series that I'm still not sure ever happened) Price pitched 8 innings and only gave up 2 runs and lost.
But for the Red Sox to win a World Series they are going to need to get a vintage (regular season) David Price start. Give me 2 runs 7 innings 8 k's. 217 million should be able to buy that. As a big narrative guy, how fitting would it be for David Price's first career playoff win to come in the World Series clinching game? With his next start lining up to be game 6 I'll take first win as a pennant clincher too! P.S. It looks like the Red Sox bullpen might not suck anymore? Still worried about Kimbrel, but I think with a 3 run lead he was just pitched to get outs. Pretty Ricky has been a stud as the set-up man.
The Red Sox dropped the series opener of the 2018 ALCS 7-2 last night against the Astros. Weird fucking game. Not a lot of hits on either side, 8 in total. The Red Sox walked 10 Astros, hit 3, and allowed one to reach on an error. It felt like they were going to break it open at some point, that point was the top of the 9th.
But going into the 9th it was just a one run game, Houston lead 3-2, before my boy Brandon Workman decided to have a 108 ERA by giving up home runs to everybody and take away any potential drama in the bottom of the 9th. Even though he didn't get an L next to his name, in addition to the silent Red Sox bats he deserves the lion's share of the L. Joe Kelly deserved better! In a weird way it's like the Astros were due. It was crazy that they only scored 3 times in the first 8 inning with how much traffic were on the bases. Sox were incredibly fortunate to be in a position to still have a chance (until the 9th). I will say this, Workman got fucked on a Fenway Park baby home run to that ugly, racist, POS Yuli, but regardless he still was awful. He made Fenway empty out like the place was on fire.
Chris Sale labored and wasn't really that ace like. 4 innings, 2 earned runs, 1 hit allowed (a huge one at that). 5 strikeouts and 4 walks. He didn't have a single 1-2-3 inning. It took him 86 pitches to get threw four. (get it? lol). He didn't deserve to lose, but man his performance really makes you think he's not 100% rn. If we're pointing the finger at anybody, point them at the Red Sox offense. 2 fucking hits through 8 innings isn't going to win many playoff games. It's frankly unacceptable from a team of this caliber. Xander Bogaerts grounded into a double play in the top of the 1st that got Verlander out of an early jam. It was really encouraging to see Mookie lead the game off with a hit, but Xander ruined that feeling really quickly. Then in the 5th Mookie had the bases loaded with one out and on the first pitch hit a shitty grounder to 3rd that resulted in an out at home. I get trying to be aggressive, but not when it looks like that. The Red Sox didn't have a ton of opportunities to score, but it's the postseason, that's what happens. You gotta capitalize on the ones you do get. They didn't even score there runs in an exciting way. Bases loaded walk and a wild-pitch. Sure Workman blew it in the 9th, but the Red Sox bats blew it in the 1st through 8th. Also why the fuck wasn't Kimbrel pitching the top of the 9th? Was that because Cora was out? I don't get it. He's been fucking horrible too and slowly turning into Mitch Williams, but I'd rather die with my All-Star closer than a dude who was out of baseball for over two years. Fuck everything about this game. The only positive to build off was the bullpen (other than Workman) and even they struggled. Walked the tight rope all night. Brock Holt followed up his playoff-cycle with a golden sombrero. Joe Kelly got a hard luck loss...Bum ass Nunez error on a tailor-made double play changed the game too. I have had enough of him for a few games. Left young Raffi get a chance. At least he has the potential to run into a homer. Oh I guess this was cool too.
Tonight technically isn't a must win, but it's a need to win if you want to survive in this series. And look who's on the mound to save the Red Sox. We all know the stats about how horrible Price has been in October and I would understand not believing in him, but right now it looks like we don't have any choice. Price's playoff struggles have been well documented, but he's been only been in one postseason where he got more than one start. Because he ,was the ace of those staffs, his struggles usually meant his team lost to playoff series, But in 2015 with the Blue Jays, after struggling in the ALDS (like always) in his ALCS starts he showed there was some potential. In game 2 of the 2015 ALCS Price allowed 1 hit through 6, before completely unraveling in the 7th, an inning the Royals scored 5 times. Then in game game 6 he pitched 6.2 innings allowing 3 runs. Something known as a quality start. I think with the short leashes in baseball nowadays, especially in October, Cora won't allow Price to give up 5 runs after pitching 6 scoreless innings. He won't let him get in the trouble. I'm not saying Price is gonna pitch 6 scoreless, I'm just saying now he has a manager that knows when to pull him. David Price has to know all the shit people have talked about him when it comes to October. People compare him to Clayton Kershaw which is a fucking joke. Yes, Kershaw has had well-documented October struggles, but he also has 8 wins, and a some vintage Kershaw performances. David Price is 0-9 as a starter. It's day vs. night. I feel like eventually, even if by mistake he has to win. Like these numbers make 0 sense. How do you go from a career 3.25 ERA guy, to over 6.00 in October? Despite everything I just said, I really am thinking and hoping tonight is the night for Price. He's pitching against a team he's had success against. 1-0 in 2 starts with a 3.65 era in 12.1 innings with 17 strikeouts and last season in the ALDS he pitched 6.1 scoreless relieve innings against the Astros. That is why he's pitching game 2. Past success. I don't really agree with it, but I kind of understand. Despite all the horrible starts in the playoffs, all it takes is one for the tide to finally change. If he can win tonight, fans will get off his back (at least a little). I don;t know what works for him? Be snow-flakes and support him saying none of that matters and keep fake believing in him, or maybe try and light a fucking fire under his ass? Do you have any pride bro, like even an ounce? You've been a laughing stock for a decade when it comes to the playoffs, but he still have a chance to change that narrative tonight. Be a fucking man, and change it. Go out there and pitch. Pitch like the Cy-Young winner you've been. Pitch like someone who actually gives a fuck. Don't be a pussy. Go out and shut the defending champs down. Will it happen tonight? Probably not, but I'm gonna at least lie to myself in believing if it gives them any chance. Because dropping the first two at home with your "aces" on the mound is a receipt for disaster. The series won't be over if the Sox lose tonight, but it'll be pretty fucking close. Please David, do something different, maybe smoke a J before the game to relax? Idk dude, you are not this bad, I don't understand how in October it's like you're pitching right-handed, but this needs to change. We've seen you're capable of doing it, you make a fucking million bucks per start, for the love of God, pitch like that tonight. The Red Sox need to jump on Cole early and give Price a little wiggle room, that means the guys at the top of the order who were in a line up that led baseball in pretty much every important category needs to do their part tonight. Let's not forget they did nothing last night. Hopefully that changes for game 2. It's not real quality start but I would sign up for 5 innings, 3 runs by Price in a heartbeat. History doesn't really matter but the Red Sox have won ALCS' after dropping game 1. 2004 and 2013 stand out. In 2004 they dropped the first three, but that's also the most miraclous run by a team in a single-series ever. I'm looking more at 2013. In game 1 against the Tigers the Red Sox lost at home with their lefty ace on the mound (Jon Lester) with a pitcher a lot of people didn't believe in (Clay Buccholz) pitching game 2. Buccholz was horrible, but this wasn't. We shouldn't have confidence in Price tonight, but I do. He simply cannot be this bad every start right? He's shown glimpse in October, I'm just hoping if there's ever a time. It's now. P.S. How fucking stupid is it that this game is going head-to-head with Pats-Chiefs Sunday Night Football? Yes I'm gonna be double tv-ing it, but not everybody is a blessed. MLB is a bunch of stubborn ass-holes not moving this game. There's no other playoff baseball games. It should've been moved to 4 something to go up against 3 NFL games most people don't care about. Sunday Night Football has been the most watched "show" on tv the last 7 years, but these dumbasses said putting the game at 7:09 gives the the best chance to grow the game. Fucking idiots, this is why baseball is dying. After 3 days off from play the Boston Red Sox are back it again tonight for Game 1 of the ALCS. Best team in baseball (record wise and eye-test wise) facing off against the defending champs: the Houston Astros. Just how it should be. A trip to the Fall Classic on the line. Many people are saying the winner of this series will win the World Series. I think that's a little extreme, they both would be the heavy favorite, but people seem to forget that anything can happen in October. Considering how squeamish and stressful the 9th inning of game 4 was against the Yankees, I know as a fan, a few days off wasn't the worst thing. Now we're here. I'm ready. I'm fired up. Hate how I seem to have no friends who care enough to watch with me, but that's okay. Fuck them and fuck the Astros. What a match-up on the mound. Chris Sale vs. Justin Verlander. A pitching match-up I was lucky to see last summer before Verlander was traded to the Astros. Last year Verlander showed his 2011 form and a was a vital part of the Astros' World Series run. He was 2017 ALCS MVP against the Yankees. 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA. The 2011 American League Cy Young winner and league MVP had another Cy Young quality year for the Stros in 2018. 16-9 with a 2.52 ERA, a league leading 290 strikeouts, league leading whip of 0.902. Verlander's 2018 was a JV Jacob deGroom season in the sense of hard-luck losing. 9 losses despite an ERA that was good for 3rd in the American League. Verlander pitched incredibly well in his postseason start against the Indians. He had a no-hitter through five innings but was pulled after allowing two hits and a walk, receiving the quick hook that has been a theme this postseason. JV did pick up the win in 5.1 innings of work allowing 2 runs and 2 hits. Here's the Red Sox line-up Verlander will face
The man he's opposing in Game 1, Chris Sale went 12-4 with a 2.11 ERA and 237 strike outs in a shortened season. Only 27 starts for Sale. He didn't qualify for league leaders in ERA due to his innings. But when healthy it looked like the Cy Young was his to lose this year. Now it'll go to Blake Snell likely. He can enjoy that as he watches the playoffs at home. Sale had virtually the same performance as Verlander his postseason start (game 1 vs NYY) 5.1 innings, 2 hits, 2 runs (one more strikeout [8 to 7]) picking up the win. Last year against the Astros in the playoff Sale got rocked in game one, and was pretty solid in relief in game 4...until Alex Bregman happened. Bregman homer twice against Sale in the playoffs last year. It felt like everybody on the Astros batted over. 500 in the short ALDS last year. Last year the Sox looked like they didn't even belong on the same field as the Astros, they were playing a different game. That was last year, this season the Red Sox are 15 games better, and have a competent manager. I think just like last series, if the Red Sox want to move on they have to win tonight. The pressure is on Sale to be Sale, while the offense is going against arguably the best right handed pitcher of this generation. Mookie Betts needs to start playing like the MVP he is. 3 hits and 2 RBI in the ALDS. It felt like he did even less. The Red Sox are going to need him to take over games in this series to have a chance. The Astros are better than they were last year on the mound, but offensively nearly every major player from last year, with the exception of Bregman had a worse 2018 than 2017. Carlos Correa battled injuries and only appeared in 110 games, batting just .239. He's a stud and could show the player he has been in the past this series, but up to this point (including the playoffs) he's been a major disappointment. The Red Sox have the advantage offensively, but I think the pitching (starting and relief) goes to Houston. With David Price pitching tomorrow, this feels like a must win for the Sox. The Astros starting rotation is gonna go Verlander, Cole, Kuechel. We'll worry about tomorrow, tomorrow but simply put, in a very elementary take, with Chris Sale pitching, the Red Sox have to win those games to have a chance in this series. The Astros are the favorite, and if you are a stat nerd who lives and dies with numbers and forgets about the human element you would say the Astros are the better team. They may be, but the Tigers were a better team in the 2013 ALCS, and you could argue the Cardinals were a better team in the World Series, but it was the Red Sox who won it all.
And in that 2013 ALCS the Red Sox beat Justin Verlander (at home) 1-0. S/o Nap. I know only Xander is left from that team (from dudes who play offensively) but it can be done again!!!
Alex Cora to me is the X factor for the Red Sox, as the bench coach of the Astros last year he knows this team inside and out. Other than Cole and that woman beater they got from the Blue Jays, he knows everything about this roster, and how to put them in situations that favor the Red Sox. Idk how the series goes, but I think the Red Sox win tonight. For my sanity and sleep, I hope they do. I'll write more after the game, and before game 2 tomorrow. I love that Brock is getting the game 1 start. Maybe he hits another cycle?? Probz not but I'll take a couple hits. I think the Sox win 6-4. Little higher scoring than you'd think with these guys on the mound, but I'm expecting both of these line ups to shine this series. P.S. Check out A-Rod paying off his bet with Big Papi. What a sight! One we nearly got in 2004 (thank God we didn't). Although, my dude does look great in red.
LET'S GO RED-SOX. LET'S GO RED-SOX.

Red Sox hold on to win 4-3 to defeat the New York Yankees 3-1 in the ALDS.
The New York Yankees season is over.
Really quick recap because I'm exhausted. Kimbrel trying to blow the season woke me up and got the blood flowing, and now I'm flying high off the adrenaline from the win. Pretty Ricky was outstanding. Vintage Cy Young Rick. 5 strong (should've been more)
3rd great (by today's playoff standards) start by a Red Sox SP this series. That's something that really excites me next round. I honestly would have Price go 3rd or 4th this time around. But let's worry about that later. Rick Porcello finally has a post season win after 12 appearances (and surprisingly only 4 starts). 13th times the charm. So happy for him. Wish he went a little deeper, and am truly still perplexed by the move. He was cruising with a unbelievably low pitch count. Think Cora managed a little scared there, luckily they held on and it didn't matter. Sale was Sale. He's gotta start giving you a lot of innings now, I think he's up for the challenge. I didn't agree with a lot of the moves, but man it seemed like everything A.C. touched turned to gold.
I was terrified in the 9th. I thought every pitch was gonna be a 600 foot walk off home run. Stanton looked lost. Wild how much Dirty Craig made us sweat it out, only fitting the final play was decided on a challenge. The ump raising that fist was like the death thump in Gladiator that bloggers love to use, Never saw the movie but that was textbook usage (verbal meme) by me. I will say this. Other than Kimbrel, I've loved what I've seen from Red Sox relievers so far this series. Wouldn't that be something if Matty Backpacks and Heater made us all eat our words. Favorite part of the game was Kinsler's double going over state trooper mega mind's monster dome.
I am exhausted.
Sox in 6 vs the Stros. The Red Sox win, theeeeeeeeeeeeee REEeeed SooooOooox WINnnnnnnnnnnnnnnNNNnnnnn! Savage move by the Red Sox (who are celebrating for the second time in Yankee Stadium this season) to blast that God awful "New York, New York" whilst popping campaign like they won a (division series) championship game.
P.S. It's sooooooooo fucking satisfying to not only clinch the AL East in New York, but eliminate the Yankees there too in the postseason. It's crazy to look back and see, but most "experts" were just handing the Yankees the division because of the Stanton trade. I thought they had a legit chance, but for everybody to just write off the Red Sox looking at how this year has gone so far, was asinine.
Double P.S. I'm officially worried about Craig Kimbrel/Mitch Williams in the 9th.
I'm gonna be honest guys, after game 2 I was really, really worried. With good reason, all the skeletons in the Red Sox attic (s/o Michael Gary Scott) came out in the loss. While this series isn't over by any means, anybody familiar with Red Sox-Yankees history knows the Yankees won game 3 of the 2004 ALCS 19-8 before dropping four straight games to blow the series. That being said, things couldn't have gone much better for the Sox in game 3. i The Boston Red Sox absolutely dominated in a 16-1 THRASHING of the 100 win New York Yankees (in the bronx).
After the offense really struggled from basically the 4th inning on of game 1 til the 2nd tonight, a switch needed to be made. Alex Cora revamped his line-up and boy, oh boy did it pay off.
16 runs. Not too shabby, oh and it officially became #Brocktober as Boston's favorite glue guy just happened to hit for the first cycle in MLB postseason history. Can confirm: that's good.
Second cycle of Brock's career.
At first I didn't even realize it was Romine on the mound, then when he got two quick outs I was rooting for the 1-2-3 inning (mainly for time's sake). Then when Brock got a hold of it, it got out so quick I could barely even question myself if he just hit for the cycle. Thank you Yankee Stadium for allowing this historic night to happen! The Bronx was truly a zoo tonight. I think this guy just got hit with a rhino tranquilizer.
It's only one game, as we saw tonight, anything can happen on a baseball diamond, the Red Sox could for sure lose the next two games and prove why run differential is the most flawed beloved stat of all time. But after a really ugly game 2 loss you really couldn't write a much better script for game 3. Basically only thing that would've beaten it was a perfect game. Doesn't matter, this was a perfect win for the Boston Red Sox. Their second of hopefully 11 wins.
It was a truly historic night for the Red Sox. I am pretty sure they tied, or at the very least tied these teams that had 15 run victories in October. Interestingly enough the 2001 Indians did it in a series in which they lost, coincidentally to the infamous 2001 Seattle Mariners.
Got those games from reddit. My baseball memory is good...but not that good.
More to come tomorrow before the potential series clincher, this just was an incredible night. Mookie got the RBI monkey off his bat. Severino is a bum. I love Raffi. Benny showed up. Obviously Brock stole the show. I've been really hard on him at times but that's cause I'm an ass hole and didn't realize he was going Lucile 2 on us. His name will live in baseball history forever. There's been thousands of playoff games, none with the cycle. That was until tonight.
Final in the Bronx:

Poor Produce :(
BIG s/o to Christopher Columbus' for giving me this entire day to watch three playoff baseball games in their entirety. Let's say entire one more time, entire....okay cool.
Yeah, did he do some scummy shit? For sure, but I am heavily on the record that I'll take a day off for anything. I'm a take what you give me guy. I'm never gonna return a day off. If you'd rather work than get a free day off honoring a dude who got lost and killed everybody, then fuck you, man. Don't ruin it for me because you wanna be a fake good guy. Chris Columbo gives me a chance to watch 3 (THREE) division series games and for that I thank him. I haven't been able to catch much of the other series due to work and life so I am pumped today is a paid vacation essentially. Let's talk ball. Going into game one I was a nervous wreck. Chris Sale and J.D. Martinez helped for like 2 hours, and I was like "holy shit this is going to be easy". It was not easy. I was not a fan of pulling Sale that early. I would've let him pitch. Worst case scenario you give up a 3-run bomb and then the reliever comes in with nobody on. They call that a clean inning. I am all about making this series as easy for the bullpen as possible. Sale at 55% is better than most of our options at 100. I'd rather die with Sale. But the Sox held on to take the opener 5-4. But even in that win all my worries came to fruition. The pen had one scoreless inning, and that inning was pretty much Rick Porcello, who is not a reliever. When he has been used as one in the playoffs the results usually weren't good. He gave up Nelson Cruz' walk-off grand slam in the 2011 ALCS, and two years later in 2013 was on the mound when Salty drove in Jonny Gomes (huge hardo) to tie the ALCS up at one. But game 1 he was solid. Kimbrel gave up a bomb to Judge, but they held on, that's all the matters. I was happy and calm after the game. It wasn't pretty, but it doesn't need to be. I'll take an ugly win over a pretty loss. I think everybody would, I don't even know what that means. I knew David Price was going in game 2, but I thought, maybe, just maybe, today would be the day. It was not.
Even though Price was pretty not good, this was still a winnable game. He did get fucked by a few questionable calls behind the plate, but a pitcher of his caliber should be able to work through it. Even though it was a four run loss, after I've thought about it a little. There's a lot of stuff to build off of:
Brasier telling Sanchez to get in the god damn box, then strike him out. Brasier after struggling in game 1 was more of the Brasier we've seen all season. I LOVE what he did to El Gary.
Then the man every Red Sox fan wants to see success, Joe Kelly did just that by shutting down the Yankees offense for 2.1 innings only allowing 1 hit over the process. Heath Hembree whomst I've hated on all season pretty much, and wasn't even supposed to be here in October pitched two scoreless innings as well to keep the Red Sox dwindling hopes alive. If Heater can be the guy I'll take it. Prove all the haters like me wrong bro, it's not like I want you to fail. Become a Mark Bellhorn type guy for this team.
How fucking lame is Aaron Judge for doing this?
Carrying a boombox like it's 1983. Wow dude that Sinatra fall-asleep music really showed them! I cannot wait for Nathan Eovaldi to shut down his former club tonight. I am all in on Evo and am pumped he got moved up to start game 3. He can handle this environment and I watched a youtube video of his off-day interview and am all in on the man I'm calling Evo. I love Pretty Ricky and trust him in game 4. Dude won a Cy Young, and pitched a masterpiece against the Yanks at Fenway during the kill sweep. But Evo going tonight is the right move. This is this the swing game and Evo has just been the better pitcher since he got here. Eovaldi has a 3.33 ERA in 54 innings with the Sox. Evo faces Luis Severino which is not awesome news for the Sox. This dude deals. He's had his stinkers, but on any night he can pitch 7 scoreless. This season his stats tell you a story of you don't know what you're gonna get when it comes to Sevy vs Boston. He's 2-2 in 5 starts with a 3.56 ERA in 30.1 innings pitched he's given up 12 earned runs, struck out 31, and walked 10. We know at least one of those starts (2 in total) was not a quality start. With the series shifting to New York obviously those creatures/fans are going to be going crazy. Luckily as the visitors the Red Sox have a chance to quiet them early. I know a lot of people are getting on Mookie for 0 career playoff RBIs, but as a leadoff man he hasn't exactly gotten too many chances where he's failed. To me that's much more telling. What's his stats with men in scoring position? I can't remember many opportunities he's gotten to even have a sac-fly. He's played in 9 playoff games and has hits in 7 of them. ,242 isn't a great, Mookie Betts like batting average, but it's an incredibly small sample size. 4 doubles isn't bad. But this offense goes with Mookie Betts. They need more out of him. I still firmly believe they can get it. I'm not going to overreact over 9 games. That being said, the Red Sox could really use a nice 2 or 3 spot to start the game to take the pressure off Eovaldi. I'd love to see Mookie get on then Benny slap one 330 feet into the upper deck. I still think Evo can pitch well without that tonight, but it will be his first playoff start. Sure would be ideal to give him a little wiggle room early. I don't think the winner of the tonight's game necessarily will win the series, but it sure will help. I am having trouble finding the exact stat but I'd guess the winner of game 3 when a series is tied 1-1 wins a majority of the time. I just think this game is much more important for the Red Sox than the Yankees since C.C. Sabathia is pitching the Yankees. He has absolutely owned the Red Sox since coming to New York. I'd love the see the Sox shake up the lineup tonight. I've seen that Holt and Raffi struggle against Severino, like really bad, to the 1 hit combined variety.. But I don't care. They're lefties at Yankee stadium, let's play to the advantages. We can hit dinky 248 foot home runs too. The Sox can do this. Let's not get all gloom and doom after a bad night by Price and let's not forget E-Rod either. He's just as much to blame IMO. Maybe run and cover first in the playoffs, dude? If the Sox take my advice and start Raffi and/or Brock I really like our chances tonight, with the big if they start either one of those guys. Brock is a guy who needs to be involved, he's a glue guy, in 2016 when he started over Shaw ( a move I didn't like at the time) he hit .400 and basically was the only guy who did anything for the Sox that series. I really want to see Nunez get a night off. What sucks about the ALDS is the short format causes you to panic. It's only been two games. The Sox have won one. They won 108 times all year, they can still win this series. But for my psychie it would sure help if they won tonight. I think they do. I think the Sox win tonight, then lost tomorrow and it's back to Boston for game 5 with Sale on the mound. I sure would love to see the Sox win in New York, it would definitely help to get Sale to start game one of the ALCS, but that isn't what matters right now. Just get there, get there, beat these fucking Yankees and lame ass Aaron Judge trying to play grandma music to get a rise out of us. Nice try captain chick lets, WE won the division, this bitch ain't over yet.
But, yes I'm incredibly nervous. Go Sox. Song: Pressure Artist: Muse Album: Simulation Theory Game 3 tonight. Pressure is on...but I believe in Evo!! |
