A few days ago, news came out about rapper Meek Mill texting Mr. Kraft that Lamar Jackson wants to play for the Patriots.
I almost wrote about it, but I felt like it was never gonna happen so I didn't wanna waste my time. I don't see any scenarios where the Baltimore Ravens would trade Lamar Jackson to the Patriots or the Pats giving up the needed capital to convince the Ravens to trade him to arguably their 2nd biggest rival after the Steelers. When asked about any potential Patriot interest Mr. Kraft deferred to Belichick, saying it's his decision.
That in itself feels unpatriot-like, but Bobby is starting to get a little frustrated with Bill, especially after last year's offensive regression. Regardless of how much longer Belichick coaches the Pats (and there are already rumblings of Jerod Mayo being the man in waiting) I really don't believe that Lamar is coming to the Pats, even though I'd be about it. Apparently, they're officially not pursuing him, which kind of sucks. If he wants to be here, I say let's fucking get it done.
I've been one of the bigger Lamar detractors. He's nasty, but I don't believe in his throwing ability, and the injuries are getting concerning. In Lamar's defense, the Ravens system and lack of WR talent definitely doesn't help his cause, but that's what kind of shocks me about him being potentially interested in Foxboro. The Pats are notoriously bad at drafting WRs.
Sure, we've had some studs through trade, like Randy Moss and Wes Welker, but that was legitimately half my lifetime ago. Usually, I don't place as much blame on him as other Patriots fans, but the 2007 Patriots would've gone down as the greatest team in NFL history had "Mr. Pick-6" Asante Samuel Sr. held on to an interception in the closing minutes of Super Bowl XLII.
TRIGGER WARNING FOR PATRIOT FANS
Like, is this mother fucker still salty that Belichick didn't sign him to a massive deal? I mean, I'm a grudge guy when it comes to my key-returner/key-loss playing career, so I get that, but like, bro...you got your money, you still have two rings, and at the end of the day...you fucked up on a play that would've cemented you in NFL lore. What did Bill do other than decide it wasn't worth giving you 55 million in 2008 dollars?
Now, that potential Super Bowl-clinching interception wasn't a can of corn, so I place way more blame on the Pats offense for only scoring 14 points and getting Brady killed all day and their defense for allowing the Helmet Catch and Plax's game-winner to happen (like why the fuck were you blitzing when you were up 4 and a field goal was out of the picture AND WHY was 5 foot nothing Ellis Hobbs on an island against 8-foot fall Plax??????). Asante for sure gets a slice of the blame pie, but IMO, it's a sliver.
I probably should've included the pressure/exhaustion of being 18-0, but hand up I made that graphic quickly because I wasn't trying to dwell on 18-1 longer than I needed to. I wasn't about to go on wiki or pro-football-reference to freshen up my memories of that horrible night.
What we don't need is this asshole publicly trying to convince players not to play for the Patriots. What the fuck is this shit???
I don't get it. Do you really think this guy is the same man he was when he coached you from 2003-07? Bush was still President when you played for the Pats, bro. It's been a minute. And it's not like you're this anti-Patriots guy. I creeped at your IG. I see you reppin New England.
I get it, you think Bill isn't shit without Brady (which still remains to be seen but there's def an argument to be made). Why do you have to publicly bash him like that and risk turning off potential Patriots? Idk if you're tryna get your name in the mix and you knew this shit would get you trending, but not cool!!! Haven't Patriot fans suffered enough? You let 19-0 slip through your fingers; we haven't won a playoff game in four whole years, Brady left us for the fucking Bucs, are uniforms are fugly, and Matt Patricia wasted a season. Can you please not tell superstar MVP quarterbacks interested in playing for the Patriots that they shouldn't be?!? I'm not asking too much for you, my (former) guy.
Not to be that dude, but there's potentially blood on your hands too. That may be why they were slippery and dropped the interception. Had Junior Seau gotten to be a part of "ever" (that's 07 Pats deeeeeep cut), maybe he wouldn't have played another two seasons and done more damage to his brain. Who knows the domino and/or butterfly effect that ring would've had on his life? I don't think it's farfetched to say he could still be alive today or, at the very least, lived past 2012. Also, Logan Mankins, Randy Moss, and Welker would have rings. You're not just keeping yourself out of Canton, but the loss of a ring (and 19-0 one at that) may have been the difference maker for Logan and Wes getting their gold jackets (which both deserve). In conclusion, Mr. Pick 6, there's no denying how electric you once were. Your 2006 season (and post-season) is one of the best runs a cornerback has ever had in the National Football League, but this anti-Belichick bullshit is not cool. It's one thing if you ran a niche blog, but to put the whole organization at risk with your words is not swag whatsoever. Don't air this out publicly. Had you held onto that pick, I'd say talk all the shit you want, but you're a significant reason why 19-0 didn't happen, so do me and every Patriot fan a favor and stop reverse-recruiting superstars.
