I grew up with ESPN like most American males do. I'd watch the same sportscenter multiple times a day, just waiting to see the Top 10 plays. I loved the "this is sportscenter" commercials. If I was watching TV from 2003-2012ish it was probably ESPN. Then over the last few years ESPN has gone to total shit. They give the worst people on earth a platform. I'm looking at you Stephen A. Smith, Dan Lebitard, Bomani Jones, and pretty much anybody who covers football. They say outlandish takes just to go viral. They pander to the highest possible extent. They're the PC police who care more about getting a pat on the back from twitter than they do about actually broadcasting sports and giving opinions. They're losing people left and right as well, just in the last few weeks both Mike Tirico and Skip Bayless have announced they'll be leaving ESPN. Plus viewers are cutting the cable cord and ESPN is losing millions of subscribers.
When they moved Curt Schilling off of Sunday Night Baseball for Jessica Mendoza (who I hate and will get into later) it was seen as a PC move. Schilling, despite his far right views that many disagree with is one of the best baseball announcers on earth, was replaced by Jessica Mendoza who is only their because she is a woman and ESPN wants to look enlightened and empowering, and get fake praise from all the PC losers on twitter. I don't care that a women is broadcasting games, I care that a women who is AWFUL at her job is broadcasting games strictly because she is a woman. In my opinion that's way worse because it is pandering and pandering is one of my least favorite things in life.
People would always say how can you fire Curt Schilling for sharing his conservative opinions when you have Ray Lewis, a dude who probably murdered people, and Cris Carter, the man who said at the rookie symposium that athletes should have a "fall guy" to take the blame for their crimes.
Well ESPN, actually made a smart move and got rid of them. Today it was announced that they will not be back at ESPN this fall .
Mike Ditka and Keyshawn Johnson are out as well so it is going to be a new cast of former NFL players this upcoming season. Former WR Randy Moss and recently retired DB Charles Woodson will both be working for ESPN this fall. IMO it's a great upgrade just because it's new blood. Hearing the same awful opinions from Ray Lewis and Cris Carter every week was nauseating. Ray Lewis couldn't pick a winner on MNF to save his life. Openly bashed the Patriots and Bill Belichick, It was laughable he said he'd rather have Rex Ryan.
Fuck Ray Lewis he should be in jail with Hernandez that fucking murderer. Mike Ditka basically has one foot in the casket. It was time to make a change, frankly I'm just shocked ESPN had the wherewithal to make a good decision.
Hey Randy how do you feel about the new job?
Also announced today former Red Sox broadcaster Sean McDonough will be taking over for Mike "I'm Italian not Black" Tirico *(seriously google/twitter search Mike Tirico I'm not black) on MNF. Another great hire.....is ESPN going to be good again?
P.S How much does Cris Carter deep down hate Randy Moss?
Double P.S. Still probably one of the best grabs I've ever witnessed. Still bums me out Pats got rid of Randy in 2010 that he was never able to win a Super Bowl with the Pats. (He did score what should have been game winner in Super Bowl 42.
Triple P.S. I feel like I should have found a way to include this...here we go.... "Hey Randy, what are you gonna make at ESPN?"
