Now that is what I'm fucking talking about from our defending Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics!!! Exactly one year to day that they tied ECSF 1-1 vs. the Bucks after dropping Game 1 on May 1st, the C's leveled the ECSF vs. Flopadelphia with a convincing 121-87 victory.
lol at Grayson Allen...never forget that the #1 seed Bucks season ended in the first round with Grayson "Rafael Cruz" Allen Eurosteppin as the clock ran out.
Tatum only scored seven points (on a gross 1/7 from the floor, but they didn't even need him tonight), and the Celtics still won by 34 (which is the largest margin of defeat in 76ers playoff history---lol jk nvm, Ernie just corrected himself during the postgame, but I'm leaving it in the blog). Talk about a TEAM win!
Embiid started off pretty well (dude was blocking everything like my ex after I blacked out at O-Side [R.I.P.] the day I graduated college) in his first action in nearly two weeks. He had ya boi a lil worried that the C's would fall behind 2-0. Full disclosure: I watched about 80% of the game on my phone while at the gym and preparing dinner, so sorry if the detail isn't great. I took a shower at halftime and tried not to miss any action, but by the time I finished washing my mane, it was like five minutes into the 3rd quarter, and the C's were up 14ish.
I know it was quote-unquote "meaningless minutes," but I loved what I saw from Payton Pritchard tonight when he was on the floor. He was a perfect 3/3 and a +7. If someone in the backcourt gets banged up (or suspended), I'm cool with PP playing meaningful minutes. We saw the Celtics' depth tonight, and they're deeper than whatever Adele was rolling around in a dozen or so years ago.
Jaylen had a fantastic first quarter (including a three ball to start the game) and dropped 25 in just 30 minutes, shooting over 50% from the floor. He was 4-4 from the line too, which is encouraging since it felt like Jaylen was Ben Wallace on the line during last year's run. That's harsh and hyperbolical, but I loved what I saw from JB tonight. He's been the Celtics' best player in the 2023 postseason. 7 set the tone tonight.
S/O Marcus. He got banged up but was solid AF while out there. It was a vintage, "no, no, no, YES!!" Marcus Smart night.
6th Man of the Year, Malcolm Brogdon showed tf out with 6 threes and 23 points after a dreadfully costly mistake in Game 1.
I got too low after Game 1 and can't get too high (metaphorically speaking) after Game 2, but I feel fucking fantastic about the C's for the rest of this series. It took a Herculean effort from Harden in Game 1, and I'm sure Embiid will feel at least a tad better Friday night, but with the MVP back on the floor, JNCO Harden turned into Avery Bradley. Actually, that's not fair cause Avery used to be a solid defender. 2/14 (0/6 from 3) isn't gonna cut it for the Sixers! You can't count on Harden being that off every game, but based on the law of averages, I'm sure he'll have a solid Game 3 after carrying the 6ers in Game 1 and looking dreadful tonight.
Barkley said it in the postgame, and I agree, the 76ers would've been better off not having Embiid play tonight. They were likely gonna lose regardless. Going into tonight, the last 14 home teams that lost a Game 1 at home won Game 2. (I'd guess the 2016-17 C's in the ECF were the last team to go down 0-2 at home). The C's have to be feeling great after blowing the Sixers tf out with Embiid back AND getting next to nothing from Tatum. Payton Pritchard outscored him!!! 
It's FUCKED UP that Blake didn't get in...he better be banged up or something!
It's only one game, but what a game it was. You'd like to see Al knock down some of those wide-open threes, but his time will come. It was great to see the C's shoot 51 threes. That's crazy to say, but it's today's NBA. More importantly, the Celtics looked like themselves defensively, and now we've got ourselves a series. I still think the C's can take in 5.5, but all the matters is moving on and staying healthy. Game 3 is Friday night, so I'll be watching from my phone again as I ub. LET'S GO CELTICS!!!!
