Song of the Day for March 31st is Dat New New by Kid Cudi. If you read yesterday you saw that I promised that today's song of the day would be something by Cudi. I absolutely love all his stuff from 08-10 but just haven't really kept up with him. Time has passed and I've basically stopped listening to rap, but I do love old Cudi maybe I'll have to see what I've missed the last 6 years. But today's song of the day is some legit classic Kid Cudi. Enjoy!

Song of the day for March 30th is My Friends Over You by New Found Glory. My Friends Over You comes off of NFG's 2002 album Sticks and Stones. It is a staple of the pop punk scene that was huge when I was in middle school. One thing about me you may not know is that I loovvveeee pop-punk. Probably gonna have a ton of it here. After all it is my blog. Today's song of the day was chosen by hitting shuffle on my phone. First song was song random Kid Cudi song that I've never heard before, don't even know how it was on my phone. I love Cudi but I don't know every deep track from Man on the Moon 2, sorry... tomorrow's song of the day is gonna be something by Cudi out of respect after that.... So this was the second song to come on shuffle. One of my personal faves, My Friends Over You, I think I was in like 5th grade when it came out and I still love it. Great song and a very cool music video considering when it came out. So here is the song of the day! Song of the day for March 29th is The Suburbs by Arcade Fire. The title track off of their Grammy winning Album "The Suburbs". (2010) I just really like this song and just woke up like a bum so it is today's song of the day! Song of the Day for March 28th is Ophelia by The Lumineers off their new album Cleopatra. The Lumineers broke onto the scene in 2012 with their self-title debut album. It produced two big crossover hits for the folky group in "Stubborn Love" (one of my personal all time favorite songs) and "Ho Hey" (which peaked at #3 on the hot 100). Since 2013 we haven't heard much from them. Its been a few years between music for them and I know personally I was waiting to see what they were gonna have next to follow up their debut because it was a great album and was also very commercially successful, especially for an indie-folk band. Here it is their newest single and the dozonlife song of the day for March 28th "Ophelia" Song of the Day for March 25th: It Wasn't Me by Shaggy In light of the news of the Ted Cruz cheating scandal here is the song of the day for March 25th "It Wasn't Me" by Shaggy off the 2000 album Hot Shot P.S. I can remember loving this song and singing all the words as a kid....having no idea what is was about, ahhhh those were the days. Also how could I be so stupid?
Song of the Day for March 24th: Don't Let Me Down(Live from Apple Studio Rooftop): The Beatles This version came from The Beatles final live performance in 1969 on the rooftop of Apple Studio. I love this song, it's so raw and good......even if it's about Yoko(who is the reason they broke up imo). Really crazy to think about the lasting legacy they have in music when their run actually wasn't that long only 7 years. A lot of people my age might not know that. I've started to get really into them lately and it's obvious to see why they are considered the greatest and probably most important of all time. So here is the song of the day for March 24th. Song of the Day: March 23rd Buggin Out: A Tribe Called Quest from 1991's The Low End Theory. I'm not nearly as into rap and hip hop as I used to be but know very well about the significance of tribe. Obviously today's song of the day is the wake of the recent news that 5 foot assassin Malik Taylor, better known as Phife Dawg to the rap community passed away last night from Diabetes. Thought it'd be fitting for today to have a song with one of my favorite opening verses in the history of rap by the man himself. RIP Phife. Gonna try to do this every weekday just to get a little more content out there that won't take too long to put together. I'm gonna start doing a song of the day, just a random song I really like and since I have a fantastic taste in music you can guarantee that it is going to be a great track. I love all types of music so it's not gonna be all of the same genre. However in my first post I HAVE TO start with my favorite band.....The Black Keys. I've seen them in concert twice and whenever they eventually make new music and start touring again you can bet I'll be there for a third time. Song of day March 22nd: Hell of a Season by The Black Keys.....off of their 2011 album "El Camino". One of my favorite Black Keys deep tracks (song that wasn't released as a single) Hey it's Doz. When I first started DozOnLife.com and was thinking about things I wanted to talk about one of the major things was music. I like everything for the most part and wanted to give my important opinions on music. So I'm gonna try to suggest stuff that I like more often and talk about music more on my blog. Here is the first post. Over the summer I heard this song "Sedona" by the band Houndmouth and really enjoyed it. After a couple months I moved on as a tend to do with music and never really listened to anything else they have. That's something I tend to do with bands I like, I'll get really into what I hear on the radio or online and don't really dive deeper and see what else they have. Idk why that is, maybe goes down to a deeper issue of me having issues with trying new things or change but thats not what this is about. Regardless just keep reading, okay? Finally about a month ago I listened to Houndmouth's entire album "Little Neon LimeLight" and enjoyed every second of it. I'd compare their sound to sort of like the Lumineers meets Mumford and Sons with a little more of a harder sound. The entire album has a very unique sound. All four members of the band contribute on vocals which is something I find very cool. I enjoyed this album so much that I actually bought a physical copy of it. Do you understand how good an album has to be for me to do that in 2016? I've bought 3 physical albums that were "new" in the last 5 years. Adele's 25 (banger, all I ask is her best work yet), Mumford and Son's Wilder Mind, and Little Neon Limelight. Pretty random grouping but good company none the less. Currently my copy of this is missing however. My dad was working on my car and it has been missing ever since. Very suspicious stuff. Houndmouth is still pretty non mainstream so you can listen to them now and act like your cooler than everybody else when they make it big and you'll have ole dozo to thank. You can be one of those ass holes that has to let everybody know they liked something before it was cool. Second thought maybe don't thank me....actually 3rd thought, always thank me, I love praise. I enjoyed the entire album but the best songs are as follows: Black Gold, Sedona, My Cousin Greg, Honey Slider, By God. I actually can't even rank them because I love the album so much. Say It is great too. Really like every song except for #4 which isn't even that bad. So give them a listen and when you really like them you'll see that my opinion is actually good and that you'll wanna get more info so you'll have to come back to my blog. Now that is how you build a following. I'm gonna share a live performance they did a few months ago for some radio station. Mainly sharing that because their last performance is cover on Dion's Round Around Sue which IMO is a top 10 song of the 1960's. Very cool to see a band from today pay homage to a song like that. I hope you enjoy as much as I did. If you don't thats okay, I just hope you can live with being wrong........
Thanks for reading and keep reading, I'm gonna start doing a lot more stuff about music...Rankings, guilty pleasures, recommendations, and a bunch of other good stuff, stay tuned!! (get it tuned like, tune, as in a term used in music) |
