Hey it's Doz. When I first started DozOnLife.com and was thinking about things I wanted to talk about one of the major things was music. I like everything for the most part and wanted to give my important opinions on music. So I'm gonna try to suggest stuff that I like more often and talk about music more on my blog. Here is the first post.
Over the summer I heard this song "Sedona" by the band Houndmouth and really enjoyed it. After a couple months I moved on as a tend to do with music and never really listened to anything else they have.
That's something I tend to do with bands I like, I'll get really into what I hear on the radio or online and don't really dive deeper and see what else they have. Idk why that is, maybe goes down to a deeper issue of me having issues with trying new things or change but thats not what this is about. Regardless just keep reading, okay?
Finally about a month ago I listened to Houndmouth's entire album "Little Neon LimeLight" and enjoyed every second of it. I'd compare their sound to sort of like the Lumineers meets Mumford and Sons with a little more of a harder sound. The entire album has a very unique sound. All four members of the band contribute on vocals which is something I find very cool.
I enjoyed this album so much that I actually bought a physical copy of it. Do you understand how good an album has to be for me to do that in 2016? I've bought 3 physical albums that were "new" in the last 5 years. Adele's 25 (banger, all I ask is her best work yet), Mumford and Son's Wilder Mind, and Little Neon Limelight. Pretty random grouping but good company none the less. Currently my copy of this is missing however. My dad was working on my car and it has been missing ever since. Very suspicious stuff.
Houndmouth is still pretty non mainstream so you can listen to them now and act like your cooler than everybody else when they make it big and you'll have ole dozo to thank. You can be one of those ass holes that has to let everybody know they liked something before it was cool. Second thought maybe don't thank me....actually 3rd thought, always thank me, I love praise.
I enjoyed the entire album but the best songs are as follows: Black Gold, Sedona, My Cousin Greg, Honey Slider, By God. I actually can't even rank them because I love the album so much. Say It is great too. Really like every song except for #4 which isn't even that bad.
So give them a listen and when you really like them you'll see that my opinion is actually good and that you'll wanna get more info so you'll have to come back to my blog. Now that is how you build a following.
I'm gonna share a live performance they did a few months ago for some radio station. Mainly sharing that because their last performance is cover on Dion's Round Around Sue which IMO is a top 10 song of the 1960's. Very cool to see a band from today pay homage to a song like that.
I hope you enjoy as much as I did. If you don't thats okay, I just hope you can live with being wrong........
Thanks for reading and keep reading, I'm gonna start doing a lot more stuff about music...Rankings, guilty pleasures, recommendations, and a bunch of other good stuff, stay tuned!! (get it tuned like, tune, as in a term used in music)
