No big C caveats here; we all know what's going on rn, but look! There's news that will make people approaching 30 (and those who already have surpassed it) quite happy:
One of the greatest video games of all-time is coming back in September; modernized for current systems while still staying true THPS!! With THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK!!! (for the most part; some songs were causalities to licensing #sadface)
I LIVED on THPS as a kid. I had THPS2 on legitimately four different platforms (PS1, N64, Gameboy Color and my iPhone 4 in 2011.......it's all I did at the Holiday Inn in lieu of working). I may play a lot of Madden nowadays (8-4 in the Hot Garbage Madden League, NBD) but when I was a kid Tony Hawk was my absolute favorite game. Before I fully dove into Boston sports fandom being my personality; ya boi was obsessed with skateboarding and all things X-Games. Interesting timing that it's returning for my first fall without Tom Brady since 3rd grade.
When I think of universally beloved things from my childhood; THPS is close to the top of the list. Much like Linkin Park; THPS transcended its subject. It didn't matter if you were a skater or not; you probably played these games at some point if you were alive in the late 90's/early 2000's. People who never stepped foot on a skateboard could tell you what a McTwist or Darkslide was because of THPS. Of course there's that little bit of worry it'll be a flop and ruin the legacy of these great games. Nobody wants to see the Disney + effect [when you watch something from your childhood and realize it's absolute garbage (I'll let you chose the example for this one) and you've just been romanticizing your youth] hit THPS. I am simply choosing to not let those thoughts enter my brain. I am EXCITED. This is great news! I'm pumped for all the skaters from those games that'll have their names out there again; your Jamie Thomas', Chad Maska's and Kareem Campbell's of the world. I want to look like a good writer here, but I really have nothing other than childlike excitement rn. I'm not gonna wish the summer away, but I cannot wait for September 4th. Sure the world may not even be here in September, but at least I'll have one thing to be excited about at video therapy this afternoon lolol. P.S. Can you hear this photo?
