I'm still debating whether I'm gonna ub and pull over to watch the game on my phone, possibly meet up with some friends or even spend a mortgage payment (not that I'm anywhere close to homeownership) on Game 4 tickets, so I'm gonna try to be quick. I am nervously excited about this game.
Through TEAM basketball, the Celtics put themselves in a position to fully take over this series and put the 2021-22 Golden State Warriors in hospice, but it won't be easy.
All playoffs long, we've heard about how the Celtics haven't lost back-to-back games since March, but the same can be said for Golden State (although they had a gross March going 5-11). We've seen the Celtics play great throughout this playoff run, then let their guard down. They haven't lost back-to-back, but they've laid plenty of eggs after huge road wins; Game 5 vs. Milwaukee, Games 3 and 6 vs. Miami. The last two series shouldn't have gone 7, and of course, you have to give credit to the opponent, but not to sound like Johnny Celtic, the C's have beaten themselves. It's the turnovers, the standing around, all that shit. We can't have it tonight. Sure, I'm worried about the NBA trying to extend the series, but you're in a prime position to go up 3-1. All you've gotta do is win a home game against a team you just beat by 16 points. They said the last game was a "swing game," but I feel like every game is. The difference between up 3-1 or tied 2-2, going back to San Fran is monumental. I'm trying to not get ahead of myself just because the C's won on Wednesday. Let's not forget they blew an 18-point lead in that game. The Warriors are still the Warriors, even if they show signs of age. I know Draymond is nowhere close to the player he was at the beginning of their dynasty; Klay missed like 1000 days. I struggle to remember the rest of their roster off the top of my head, but Steph is still a fucking problem (especially when the C's keep leaving him wide open on the pick n' roll #hoopheaddozo). He's been solid this series but still hasn't had that full nuclear game where he drops 40+ and shoots like 70% from 3. S/O Marcus.
It sounds so elementary, but it truly comes down to the Celtics defending home court. Like I said in the blog on Wednesday. Just win at home, and you're NBA Champions. Go back SF up 3-1 and let all the tech bros who don't care in their luxury boxes say goodbye and great season. Come home up 3-2 and close it out next Thursday. I believe in you, C's!
The Jays have been solid through three games, although you'd love to see like three more PPG from both of them. I need MORE. Show the world why you're the best wing combo since buffaque (I almost went with my heart and said garlic parm, but I know the readers will relate more with buffaque).
The question is, who's gonna be their 3rd option? In Game 1, Marcus, Al, and Daddy D-White all went off. Then in Game 2, three of the Celtics' five starters scored two points each. Wednesday night Marcus had one of his best games of the playoffs, dropping 24, 7, and 5 on a very efficient night (for him). His performance is an excellent metric for whether or not the C's win basketball games.
I'd love to see Grant drop 20 tonight. He's a hashtag good guy and deserves it!
We know the Warriors are gonna come out in that must-win mode (even though they know firsthand that a series isn't over just cause someone's up 3-1), but will the Celtics? They cannot afford to be happy with two wins. Two wins won't get you banner 18. You cannot get comfortable and think just cause you're at home that it's a sure thing. These Warriors have seen it all and aren't gonna die unless you kill them. You gotta curb-stomp the dynasty to defeat it.
It's now 4:23 pm, and if I want to get down to Newport for the start of that Friday night rush before I stop to watch the game, I gotta go. I guess I'm not going to the Garden tonight (although if you hmu in the next 2-3 hours I might), but if there's a chance to get in the building for a potential close-out Game 6, I'll spend 2K on nosebleeds, IDC. That's an experience that doesn't come around every year. Hopefully, someone buys my fucking Pontiac already so it's like I'm going for free. Fuck, see, I'm getting ahead of myself. We have to win tonight. All that matters is tonight. Get that W and go up 3-1. Don't let GSW get back into this series. Fuck Draymond. Go Celtics. Go Dozo. Thank you to everybody that reads this frantic ramble. It's time to BLEED GREEN!!!!!
