Yes I believe in the death penalty and harsh punishment to proven violent criminals but I'm not gonna get on my soapbox about that right now. No this is about our prison system in America as a whole. This story raises a bigger issue to me and it's about being finicially responsible. Why the fuck are we wasting any money treating old prisoners with life sentences?
This makes absolutely no sense to me. Charles Manson is 82 years old. No criminal that old should be in prison. They should be dead. How Charles Manson even made it to 82 in prison blows my mind. There hasn't been one tough guy trying to make a name for himself in prison that could've killed him by now? Dude's been locked up since like 1970. Statistically that blows my mind. Charles Manson has gone over 16,000 days in jail without being killed.
The fact that poor Charlie has a really bad tummy-ache does not mean he should taken out of prison. Make him suffer. Let's say somehow he doesn't die from this in the hospital then what? We just throw him back in prison wasting more money keeping him alive for another few years until he finally crokes? Yeah that's a good idea... Then think about the people at the hospital. Now you have some poor first year nurses working on him. Yeah I'm sure that won't make them want to change careers. I don't know how it works in hospitals but I'd imagine someone with seniority would not be the one forced to try to keep Charles fucking Manson alive. Seems like something you give to the kids fresh out of college. At least if they screw up it's not like a person who matters died. What's even worse is to be the poor bastard who had to share a room with him. You wake up and see an old man with a swastika tattooed on his forehead. Yeah I'd be worried if he didn't request a room change. But this issue to me comes down to pure dollars and cents. We as a nation need to be smarter with our money. (I know I need to as well but this isn't about harping down on me for my spending habits, its about helping our nation save money) We all know I'm a big do as I say, not as I do guy and if there's one thing people love it's someone else telling them how to spend their money. Why on earth is Charles Manson allowed to get treatment outside of prison? Somebody has to pay for it and newsflash it isn't coming out of Charles Manson's pocket. Kind of hard to pay for something when you haven't had a job in 47 years. Why waste anything to keep this guy going? Would you paint a house that is about to get torn down? Would you buy a blind guy a book? Those moves make more sense financially then spending money to keep Charles Manson alive. If I was in charge (which is always a good idea) nobody serving a life sentence would be allowed any medical treatment. If you can stay alive in prison on your own good for you, but I'm not doing anything to make life easier. I'm dead serious, not even a band-aids. If you get a cut in prison and you also murdered a bunch of people I'm not giving you a band-aid. Why waste money trying to keep people alive who are just sitting in prison waiting to die? Don't go to prison if you want medical care. Economically it makes zero sense to spend any money on lifers and their medical needs. Just flushing money down the tiolet. Save some for the people who have a chance to get out and make a difference. I'm not talking just hopsital visits either, I'm saying literally any sort of medical needs. No band-aids, no tylenol, no popsicle sticks to put on their tongues, nothing.
