I was working on Stanley Cup preview blog and accidentally posted it before it was finished I was so shocked when I heard the news.
Comedian/Actor Charlie Murphy has passed away at the age of 57 from Leukemia. He was the older brother of legendary comedian Eddie Murphy, but so much more than just "Eddie Murphy's brother". The story telling ability of this man was incredible and his impersonations/impressions would always leave you laughing. Charlie Murphy was a hilarious man. I'm legitimately sad about this passing. 57 man, that is so young. Like my dad turns 57 this year. You never think that at that age it's going to happen, but obviously you never know when your time is up. This fucking sucks. I didn't even know he was sick. This was totally shocking to me. When I saw on Twitter that he died it honestly blew my mind. I also would've never guessed he was 57. I guess it makes sense when you hear about the stories from the 80's like it adds up, but I would've thought he was under 50. Like most people I will remember Charlie Murphy from his time on Chappelle's Show. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say that show was some of the funniest stuff television ever had to offer. For that two year run, there really was nothing like Chappelle's Show, and honestly it still has yet to be duplicated. I can remember being in 6th grade when it was at its peak, if you didn't watch the night before you might as well not have gone to school the next day. Even as a 12 year in Christian school. Chappelle's Show was so ahead of its time, so smart, so edgy. From Charlie's roles as one of the Time Haters, to Buck Nasty, to Tyree on the Mad Real World, to of course Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories with Prince and Rick James Charlie Murphy would have us all cracking up every Wednesday night. The list goes on and on, and nothing a fake blogger in Narragansett, Rhode Island can say to pay tribute to this very, very funny man. This celebrity death actually really shook me and is just a huge bummer to find out. Charlie Murphy on Chappelle Show is without a doubt some of the funniest television of all time. RIP Darkness
