FUCK THIS (not in the cool, Minx way). via: IndieWire “Minx” has gone out of print after all. HBO Max canceled its period comedy series after it was picked up for a second season last May. Sources from Lionsgate, the production company behind the series, confirmed the cancellation to IndieWire. According to the sources, production on Season 2 recently wrapped before HBO Max opted to cancel the series, but Lionsgate TV hopes to shop the series to other outlets. “We have enjoyed a good partnership with HBO Max and are working closely to find a new opportunity for ‘Minx,’ so current, and new viewers, can continue this journey with us,” Lionsgate said in a statement. In addition to canceling the second season, HBO Max will also remove the first season, which premiered in March, from the platform. The nixing of “Minx” is the latest cancelation of previously greenlit projects at the streamer, including the DC movie “Batgirl” and several animated series. In addition, the comedy is the latest of dozens of series to be removed from the streamer, such as “Generation,” “The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo,” “12 Dates of Christmas,” and “Infinity Train.” In news that's almost as shitty as learning that single women couldn't put a credit card in their name until the 1970s (seriously, how fucked is that?), HBO Max has canceled Minx.
It's a huge bummer. 2022 has been an excellent year for HBO/HBO Max content. I've watched The Gilded Age, Winning Time, Barry, The Rehearsal, Righteous Gemstones, The White Lotus (banged it out in about a week), and Minx. I could be forgetting more, but that's what I've got off the top of my head. Southside S3 just started, and I need to see that; it's fucking hysterical if you haven't caught it yet. I love HBO/HBO Max content, but this is a straight-up scumbag move and one that they've pulled before; luckily I don't pay for HBO Max, but if I did, I'd be even madder. This is some bull shit. It's like GLOW all over again, except Max isn't using the panny as a scapegoat to cut a women-driven series. Minx told an important, fun story, and finding out this news put a damper on my day, but in a way, it's very Minx for this to happen. Apparently, Lionsgate is shopping the series around. Hopefully, it lands on its feet somewhere that I have a sub/use someone else's for. I'm pretty good at buying my own and spreading the love, but I use fam/friends' Pmount+, YoutubeTV, and HBO Max. I'd like to see it on Hulu or Netflix, but I just hope someone picks up season two. I need to know what happens with Bottom Dollar. In today's crazy political climate, this show needs to continue. 97% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, and HBO Max pulls the plug. Good call!
