I know as much about trap music as Nelson Rockefeller knew about contacts, but this song is fire.
FULL SONG:
With over 30 likes as of 12:40 pm, @Joogwinik gave IDK the a-okay on the behalf of Jews.
With the fucked up way my brain works, the first thing I thought while listening to this song was "this is gonna piss some people off". OMG, IDK inferred that some Jewish people are accountants. #IDKisCANCELLEDPARTY.
As a humorist I believe that nothing should be off limits in comedy or art in general; stereotypes included. Here's a stereotype. Jewish people are actually cool and will make light of anything instead of being too stupid to understand how comedy is actually a vehicle for societal change. (maybe that's why some want to censor it??) The fact that people gave Larry David shit for making a Holocaust joke is still top three most ironic things that have ever happened. Don't get me wrong, we definitely needed to evolve in comedy. PAGING DR. F@GGOT doesn't play anymore and shouldn't. That at its core is hateful and not okay; even though 17 year old me geeked out in real time.
While IDFW a lot of trap, it's still an art form. I love the call and answer style of the genre. I'm not well informed enough to talk about it at length, but I fuck with Quavo heavy (tons). Jesus, I sound so lame rn.
If Jonas Salk was still alive today he'd be bumping "Mazel Tov" on a blu-tooth speaker while curing Covid and refusing to patent it. Say what you want, but this song is fire. I can already see the outrage by non-Jews about a song that is clearly showing love AND bringing awareness to perhaps the most famous Jewish phrase in history. I'm sure this song got a few people curious.
Out of the tens of thousands of people who have already listened to this song, I bet at least.... 18 have gone down a rabbit hole learning about the Jewish people and their culture. In that research I bet they'll learn how many phrases in our everyday language have a Jewish origin. So not only is this song fire, but it's educational! I know they're kinda saying fuck you to Social Distancing in the video, but look at how much fun these gentleman are having. I for one am jelly AF; especially on the day that was supposed to kickoff Boston Calling. Here Goes Dozo might have to bleed into music because based on two minutes of research, I already fw IDK heavy. I love what it stands for.
Happy almost birthday!
The facts are the facts. We're gonna have to hear from Lil Dicky too.
P.S.
The "quack, quack" line made me immediately think of this bit; one of Mulaney's best.
