I'm Not a Jinx Guy, but I Can't Stop Thinking About the Celtics T-Shirt Giveaway Before Game 4

​The Golden State Warriors will be crowned NBA champions in a little under 50 hours, and if I take my Celtics-colored glasses off, I can admit that it's a pretty cool narrative given their last two seasons.

Even though the Celtics have been beating themselves, I suppose GSW earned it. They stay composed and play entire games, unlike the C's. I'm not a jinx guy; I don't think these shirts caused the Celtics to score two baskets in the last 7:26 of the 4th quarter in Game 4 or waste a comeback in Game 5 only to piss down their leg after a miracle shot, BUT given where they currently stand... Whoever thought this shirt was a good idea should be fired or at the very least get a stern talking to, but I think a new job would be best.

​Dude, I was just as pumped as everybody else when we were up 2-1. I didn't think it was over, but I mean, I definitely started having those "holy shit, this could really happen" thoughts; similar to ones that crept into my head when the Patriots were up 17-9 in Super Bowl XLVI during a then seven-season Super Bowl drought.

Should the Celtics lose this series Thursday or Sunday night, they're setting themselves up for ridicule all off-season with these overzealous shirts and the obvious jokes that come with them.

If I've said it once, I've said it a million times, but I don't love the whole "it's all about 18" thing because it's very New York Yankee. My disdain for these shirts isn't revisionist history. I didn't like this move as soon as I learned about it.

I'm all for free sponsored shirts for fans paying over a g note for nosebleeds, but seriously, who the fuck thought this was a good idea? It'd be one thing if we were the dynasty, and these were like it's all about 21 shirts, but when you haven't won a championship since Bush was in the White House and have a history of blowing series leads...idk, maybe wait to boast or count championships? You know the Warriors saw these and used them as fuel. Again, not a jinx guy, but the C's were up 2-1 before these came out and now they're in the midst of their first losing streak since late March and on the brink of elimination. I'll gladly go fuck myself if we end up winning in 7 and eat this blog, but dropping these shirts before the deal was sealed was bad vibe city. Better luck next year.
