Is it still called "sub-tweeting" even if it's on the gram? Sub-gramming just doesn't have the same flow.
By now all Patriot fans know about Jamie Collins and his shocking trade to the Cleveland Browns
a few weeks ago. Apparently the Patriots were not happy with his play on the field and attitude off of it so they shipped him to Cleveland where he cannot comeback to haunt them this season as the Browns are winless and no threat to the Patriots. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda we all know, this isn't about that.
What this post is about is how yesterday on the gram the former Patriot linebacker posted this pic with the following captain. "I may not be where I need to be. But thank God I'm not were I used to be" then put #BetterDays on it with the black fist emoji that I don't know how to post with my 28 year old mac.
This post can be interpreted a few ways, but I think the most glaring way here is that Collins is acting like every teenager on social media after a break-up by posting some not so cryptic "I'm not going to mention you in it, but this is obviously about you in it" post also known as a sub-tweet.
As someone who used to be a serial sub-tweeter back in the day ( ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) I know a thing or two about getting your message across and here Jamie Collins might as well just posted. "Yeah being on the Browns sucks but I'm leaving after this year, at least I'm not in New England anymore" because this is about as subtle as a slap in the face giving where his career is at right now. It's so perfectly fitting for his current situation it has to be about the Pats. I know it says "Artsy Christian" on the post but let's not act like people don't use God to cover shit up.
What my biggest concern is that @_boomtower aka former teammate Dont'a Hightower liked this picture. That kind of worries me. Like Jamie is gone. It sucks but I moved on. I'm worried about the guys the Pats currently have. Don't is a free agent after the season. Will he be the next young stud to leave the Patriots defense? I know the Pats want him back but liking this pic kind of worries me I can't lie. Is he unhappy in New England too? Hopefully Dont'a is just being a good friend and liking his boys pic on IG because we all know there are different kinds of "likes".
There's the "you're a random person I follow who has to earn likes by posted something I genuinely like" like.
The "you're my friend and I'm going to like everyone of your posts no matter what" like.
And of course the "I'm liking this to show my interest in you" like.
For us Patriot fans let's hope Dont'a is a 2nd type of like kind of guy.
