I still do not want to accept the fact that David Ortiz is retired. It just makes me think about how everything in life eventually ends and that one day we'll all be dead.

Talk about a light way to start a blog. It just sucks that father time is taking away Papi from the Sox because he still has the ability to crush baseballs. We saw that all year, it's just his lower body is just breaking down too much at 40 years old to continue the grind that is a Major League Baseball season.

In this letter to the fans David Ortiz tells many stories about his career and journey it took for him to become the man he is today. Love the parts about sleeping in and how he flipped Torii Hunter over the wall in RF at Fenway.

However the one story that stands out the most to me is when he and Pedro left a game early in 2003 after they both were already out of the game how he thought that'd be the end of him in Boston. Really great story I'm not going to give it all away so you actually read it. Just know all Red Sox fans need to thank Pedro Martinez for being the reason David Ortiz became Big Papi.

I will share one story in this blog though. After the Red Sox were eliminated from the playoffs a few guys didn't even say bye to Papi because they don't believe he's actually retiring. We don't want to believe it either, guys.

"Nobody believes me. Not even my teammates. On my last night in the clubhouse, after we got eliminated, a lot of them wouldn’t even say goodbye to me. Because they still think I’m going to show up at spring training.I wish I could. My mind wants to. But my body just can’t do it anymore. For the past four years, it’s been a struggle just to get physically ready to perform. I used to roll up to the ballpark at 2:30 and be ready to go at 7. But for the past few years, I’ve been a noon guy. That’s how long it takes me to get the engine going with all the stretching and massages and treatment.

Getting old sucks."

He's a noon guy. I love that Big Papi is also a big _____ guy. Those are the guys you can trust.

Saying I am/ I'm not a big ________ guy to describe every facet of life is my favorite thing of all time.

I know I've been churning out blogs like a superstar all day so you're probably sick of reading but I cannot recommend that article by David enough.

In regards to the last line of his article "I’d give you all a big f*****g hug if I could." My new life goal is hug Big Papi and just say thank you. That's my guy.

I'm a BIG Big Papi Guy.
