The struggling Bills have made a change at quarterback.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott announced this morning that Nathan Peterman will start at quarterback on Sunday and Tyrod Taylor will go to the bench. “We are in the playoff hunt and we are always focused on becoming the best team possible. We were made for better than 5-4,” McDermott said. McDermott benched Taylor for Peterman late in Sunday’s blowout loss to the Saints, and Peterman played reasonably well, although that was in garbage time, and after the game McDermott said he was sticking with Taylor. Apparently a few days of thought led to McDermott changing his mind. The Bills got off to a hot start this season but have been blown out two weeks in a row, first to the Jets and then on Sunday to the Saints. Taylor has hardly been to blame for all of it — the Bills’ defense has struggled mightily as well — but he bears enough of the blame that McDermott wants to see what the young backup can do. On Sunday in Los Angeles, Peterman will start against the Chargers. via: profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/11/15/bills-bench-tyrod-taylor-will-start-nathan-peterman/ Well, it looks like T-mobile just went out of service. Now that we have the corniest "joke" of all time out of the way let's talk football. I don't understand this move at all. If the season ended today the Bills are in the playoffs. Sure they've dropped 2 straight games and haven't looked too great in either of them, but I don't think Tyrod Taylor is the problem. As much of twitter is saying. Tyrod didn't give up 47 points to the Saints.
I think you get the point.
But seriously, this is a head scratcher, T-mobile is fine quarterback, not elite or anything but he's a solid middle of the road NFL starter. One of the better QBs the Bills have had (granted that's not saying much) in the last 15 years.
Not to be a total snob Patriots fan, but this is the fucking Buffalo Bills we're talking about. Of course they messed this up. They haven't made the playoffs since 1999!!! We're talking when Rocket Power was the shit. We're talking pre 9/11. For God's sake it was last Millennium!
This is just such a Bills move to me. Give up 47 points at home to the Saints, bench your QB. Yep! Makes all the sense in the world. Now part of me wants to give Bills' head coach Sean McDermott the benefit of the doubt because he has been a football guy of the week before.
But then again, after he gave that corny blessed answer, and didn't make a single joke I think you can question him and his intelligence.
This move just doesn't make sense to me, now granted I have a soft spot in my heart for mobile quarterbacks who aren't the best passers. But to me benching Tyrod Taylor despite being 5-4 this season is like some ugly loser breaking up with his "6" girlfriend because he thinks he can do better. When in reality, he's lucky to have her, and is gonna be stuck with unproven uggos out on the open market. That's exactly what the Bills are doing here. They're the ugly loser guy who somehow thinks he can do better. You can't! You're the Bills! You should count your blessings you took a flyer on Tyrod Taylor who had been a career backup and it worked out. I get it, the ultimate goal of every team should be the win the Super Bowl, and deep down I know T-mobile isn't a Super Bowl quarterback but, again we're talking the Buffalo Bills here, I think God already showed us in the early 90's that this team will never win a Super Bowl. So let's set the expectations a little lower, and just try to end the longest playoff drought in all four major professional sports. Which by all accounts, seems like something Tyrod Taylor was on his way to doing this season. P.S. I hate to turn this into a race thing, but how can you not given the circumstances? The Black QBs are held to a higher standard narrative is real AF.
