It feels like I posted today's SOD a week ago. Thanks to a late wake-up (2:40 pm) and my dad coming over to hang out and watch the C's, I didn't end up getting any blog-blogs out. Sure, I've had a few BL smooths, but that won't stop me from getting at least one real article out tonight. GO CELTICS!!!!!
THIS IS HOW YOU BOUNCE BACK!!!!
After an embarrassing 101-89 home loss in Game 1 of the ECSF, the Boston Celtics have evened up the series (which does not resume until Saturday afternoon) with a wire-to-wire 109-86 win that saw them shoot a blistering 13/20 from three in the first half in a decent/record-setting night from behind the arc.
30 after a 25-point first half isn't exactly a "monster" night, but I'll fucking take it! What an answer by JB after an atrocious game 1.
Obviously, we would've all preferred to hold home-court advantage, but if it's gotta be 1-1 heading midwest, this is how you want it. I've always said you'd rather win game two than game one cause now you've got momentum.
Sure, game three isn't for well over 72 hours, but the C's will have plenty of time to prepare and heal up. You could argue tonight's performance was Ewing Theory, but I'd rather take my chances with the Defensive Player of the Year on the court. With this long delay, you'd think Marcus would be back Saturday afternoon, but you know he was still making an impact from the bench.
I listened to like the first five minutes of the first quarter on the radio because I was picking up some 'za for my dad and me, but I heard this nugget on 98.5 as I was parking with some pizza pies and a rack of smooth boys---the Celtics held Milwaukee to exactly one point per possession in game one; in the regular season, the C's went 22-3 in games where they held opponents within that threshold. AND going into tonight, the Celtics played 87 games this year, and game one was their 86th best offensive showing. Idk the metric they used, but only their opening night performance was worse.
What I'm saying is the C's gross game one offense may have been an aberration. They were cold, cold, cold like a great Cage the Elephant song. After only hitting ten 2-point field goals in game 1, they made ten in the first half of game two. Their shooting percentage increased from 33.3% overall and 36% from three in game one to 47.5% and 46.5% respectively tonight. I'd still like to see them drive and use their speed more against statuesque Brook Lopez, but this was a leap in the right direction. And can we give some love to the defense for showing tf out without Marcus???
I like and respect the shit out of Giannis, he's a beast and technically had a triple-double Sunday, but through two games, he's shooting just 20/52 (38.5%). Not exactly KD bad, but that's what we're gonna need to move past the Bucks. It takes a village to slow down the Greek Freak, but I've gotta give a special s/o to Batman for showing tf out.
That's obvi not Giannis, but it still was awesome.
I may have been a tad overzealous when I made this meme---
---but we've got ourselves a fucking series. In a must-win game, the Celtics did what they had to do, and like Romano Tours promises, we got our 45 minutes of happiness for the day.
I'm actually pumped there's such a long break until game three because now they can recover a little, and I won't have to sacrifice key ub** hours since it's a 3:30 tipoff. Go Celtics!
P.S.
I love the shirt Batman.
