Wave that flag Wally!!!

100 wins for your Boston Red Sox in 2018! Holy Shiiit. Most wins in the league by a mile, best regular season since 1946. Japan was still on fire from Fat Man and Little Boy last time the Sox hit triple digit wins.  Like Aaron Lewis once said; it's been a while.

I honestly believed going into this season the Red Sox would win the division over the Yankees, but I did not expect them to be this far ahead, playing this well up to this point. The Red Sox are 100-46. The all-time team win record is 105 set in 1912.  With 16 games to play they should smash that.  Just like their  2013 counterpart-- this team has not sustained a losing streak over 3 games. They play great on the road, can beat you in a variety of ways, and have proven they can beat the bests even with their JV team.

Welcome to the team Brandon Phillips, it is VERY nice to meet you! pic.twitter.com/eRZNjzE8hO

Being a Boston sports fan I've been cautiously optimistic this whole season. It's not always fair, but the success of all four teams has caused a "championship or bust" mentality for fans. We judge teams off the Patriot standard and that's not fair. i think people are starting to turn around that mentality, but I know personally, that's how I used to feel.  Obviously I want the Sox to win the World Series this year but I don't think if they come up short this season will be a failure. I just don't want them to be some dubious team like the 01 Mariners who won 116 games but were gentlemen's swept in the ALDS.

To me it's all about being competitive in the playoffs. That's all I want. Give me some sort of run. With a 5 game series the playoffs can be over by the end of the weekend.  After starting off game 1 of the 2016 ALDS with a 1-0 lead once Brock Holt got throw out at home things went south. They were swept to shock of many. Then the next year despite winning the division and a respectable 93 games again they lost to the Astros in 4 and were noncompetitive for the first two games of the series. They looked overmatched and on completely different levels.

If the Sox lose a tough ALCS to the Tribe or Stros in 6 or 7 this year is a win to me. I just think (I'm guilty af) a lot of fans this year have been harping on the bullpen struggles and whether this team is built for the playoffs or not. I'm worried too. I'm hoping some guys can emmurdge in September to be October heroes. They really only need 2 guys to step up. I think Workman will be one of them when all said and done. He handled high leverage situations for sox in 13 and has been a solid weapon out of the pen the last two years after battling back from injury.

I'm kinda going everywhere here but it's late and I just wanna talk Sox. I should have written more about them this year it's been such a fun season. JD Martinez may end up with MLB Triple Crown. Something that hasn't been done in 50+ years either. Mookie is proving he's a top 3 player in the entire game. Xander has had a incredibly solid season. Been a little overshadowed by those guys + Benny but he's having a career year. Speaking of Benny. I think he's a guy who could have a big October. He's homer in both series he's played in when most other bats remained silent. He's a stud and I'm he's my pick for some big RBI moments. Of course I'm worried the bullpen is gonna ruin everything. It's all Dumbo teams have done. Look at the Tigers dynasty that wasn't. But what if they win the whole fucking thing? I don't want my only memories being me worrying about October from June-September. The Red Sox have won 100 games for the first time since 1946 and it looks like they have no intentions of slowing down. Let's stay healthy and keep rolling because while 100+ is cool we want 11 in October.

Why doesn't everybody do the "hit a home run in every at-bat" thing like Steve Pearce? pic.twitter.com/fRi3DUZVey
