What a great week to be a Patriots fan!
Your only "competition" in the division, the 5-4 Buffalo Bills just benched its starting quarterback, meanwhile down in Foxboro Tom Brady, for 3rd time this season and 30th time in his career is the AFC Offensive Player of the Week. Thanks in part to a 3 touchdown 0 int game in Denver, the 54th such of his career. Brady picked up his NFL record 86th road victory as well in the contest. Oh and for good measure, Dion Lewis thanks to his Davontae Booker aided kickoff return touchdown takes home AFC Special Teams player of the Week Honors.
Somewhat surprisingly, since Brady has won this award nearly two full seasons worth of his career, this is the first time he's been AFC Offensive Player of the Week and a teammate has taken home the award for special teams. However it's not the first time a Patriot duo has achieved the feat.
Statistically speaking you'd think he's probably shared AFC Player of the Week with a teammate before, especially considering the two kickers he's spent most his career with you'd assume there would've been some week where Brady and Vinatieri/Gostowski could've both won. Apparently not! Oh well, yet another feather in Tom Brady's cap. I bet he'll love this because it just gives him an opportunity in the press conference to take the light off of him and give credit to a teammate. That's just the Patriot way.
