I'm a tad self-conscious blogging about the NBA since I don't follow it like I do the NFL. I watch most Celtics games, but I don't watch non-C's games or pay close attention to what's going on around the entire league until football's over. I mean, I know the big stuff. Like Cry-rie just got traded to Dallas to investigate the grassy knoll himself, but I'm more than willing to admit I'm not the guy to turn to for NBA news and breakdowns. That being said, I do know a thing or two about narratives and sports history. Trading Jaylen Brown for Kevin Durant would be stupid AF (as fuck)!!!
Look, KD was a beast. He's a surefire Hall of Famer. I wanted the Celtics to acquire him in 2016, but that was seven years ago. Yeah, his numbers this year are solid, but Kevin Durant is also 34 years old and breaks down more often than a Ford Pinto. This tweet summarizes how I feel about a potential KD trade.
Since I doubt the Brooklyn Nets are going to move KD for a bag of chips, I'm not down to trade a 25-year-old Jaylen Brown for a back nine Kevin Durant and his massive deal. Chemistry matters and JB's presence is vital for the Boston Celtics. WHY DO PEOPLE INSIST ON BREAKING UP THE JAYS!?!?
This story could just be conjecture, but I trust and respect what Stephen A. says. Plus KD's been linked to the C's since summer 2016, and apparently, he wants to play with Marcus Smart, but trading Jaylen Brown would fuck this team up. Yeah, Jaylen shoots like 31% from the free throw line, but he's more likely to help the Celtics win a title in the next 3-5 years than the ghost of Kevin Durant. Did we forget his performance in the first round last year? The C's held him to 38.6% shooting. This potential trade would be worse than Perk and Nate for Nenad Krstić and Jeff Green in 2011. Much like my Grandma's chicken liver stuffing on Thanksgiving, I'm all set with trading Jaylen Brown.
