Being a Patriots fan is awesome. We win basically every game (unless I'm there and newsflash I'm going tonight so pound the Ravens moneyline), have the best coach and QB of all time but we are stripped of one of the best parts of football: Trash talk.
I'm sure they do their fair share of it on the field, as we've seen from players like Julian Edelman, and when he was here Aqib Talib, but under Bill Belichick and the "Patriot Way" you never hear any sound bites in pre or postgame interviews. Most notable one I can remember in recent years was when Wes Welker made fun of Rex Ryan and his foot fetish before their 2010 divisional round playoff game. The Patriots benched Welker to start the game which may have been a difference maker in the upset loss for the Pats. Yesterday there were two great moments of postgame hate by two of the NFL's most vocal cornerbacks: Adam "Pacman" Jones and Aqib Talib. Let's start with Pacman. His Bengals have more than disappointed this season. After making the playoffs for 5 straight seasons this year they're 5-7-1 and will not be having their annual Wild-Card round loss. It's been a rough year in Cincy, luckily for them this week they got to play other team from Ohio, the Browns. Oh poor those poor Browns. Just when you think Cleveland sports are the rise after the Cavs won the NBA Finals and the Indians went all the way to game 7 of the World Series the Browns followed it up by starting off 0-12 going into the game yesterday. They do have one bright spot this season: WR Terrelle Pryor. Pryor, a former QB at Ohio St and briefly for the Raiders has since transitioned to WR and has had a break out year, despite not having a real quarterback to get him the ball. Going into the game 62 catches for 855 yards and 4 TD. Not bad considering the team he is on. After the game his stats were 63 catches for 858 yards as Pacman Jones held the reciever to 1 catch for 3 yards. Not exactly a great showing for the former Buckeye. After the game Pacman Jones did not hide his feelings towards Pryor.
Wait, Pacman how do you feel about T-Peezy?
GARBAGE!!!
Pacman was not happy with the "fake tough guy" persona he believes Pryor portays and if there's anybody who's allowed to call people out for that, it's Pacman. That dude is a badddd man. Let's not forget what went down at 2007 NBA All-Star Weekend. Is it kind of a pathetic to be talking shit after you beat a 0-12 team? Maybe. Is it a great clip? Hard yes. Then that leads us to Aqib Talib. The defending Super Bowl champs lost in Tennessee yesterday to the Titans in one of the ugliest games I've seen in a while. The Titans only had 6 completions. But the most notable play was a cheap low block away from a play by Titans WR Harry Douglas on CB Chris Harris Jr.
Talib was not pleased and decided a brawl was the best way to handle the issue.
After the game Talib doubled down and said he's going to beat his ass in Atlanta since they have the same agent.
Everything he said was true. Harry Douglas is horrible. After a 1000 yard season with the Falcons in 2013, Douglas has done next to nothing since. This year he only has 10 catches for 162 yards. Not ideal. The block he layed on Harris was bushleague at best, you don't go after guys knees, especially for no reason at all. They were away from the play and shit like that can destroy somebody's knee. There's supposed to be a code in the NFL not to do stuff like that and Douglas just completely ignored it.
Talib is probably going to get fined and/or suspended for what he said and did during and after the game but TBH I have no issue with it. He has his teammate's back and is willing to whatever it takes to have his back. That being said if I'm the NFL I'm suspending him next week against the Patriots but that will never happen because the league will never do anything to make things easier for them.
