Joe Mande's Week of Hats Ended Up Raising Thousands of Dollars For a Cornucopia of Charities1/18/2021
Last Wednesday, I blogged about a hilarious fundraiser that racially ambiguous, cool-dick having, ISIS video critic/comedian Joe Mande was putting together with his hand-stitched baseball caps in "The Week of Hats".
Before I fill you in on the nearly $5K Mande raised for five different charities, let's see what hats Mr. Mande debuted to close out TWOH. Over Thursday and Friday, Joe Mande debuted four news hats help raise money for various charities.
Thursday featured a mash-up of 2014 National League Wild Card Game participants with a Pittsburgh Pirates "Popcorn" and San Francisco Giants "Transfusion" hat for the Equal Justice Initiative.
On Friday, the Week of Hats concluded with a rematch of the 2015 NLDS and 1988 NLCS, benefitting Starlight Children's Foundation, with a New York Mets "Nyquil" hat and a L.A. Dodgers hat with a custom word for the highest bidder.
Unfortunately, I don't believe any DOL readers won these bids like I was hoping for in the previous blog, but Joe Mande's man hours of embroidering adjustable ball caps raised $4,731.50 for five different charities for an average of $942.70 in donations per cause.
Bravo to one of my favorite and most under-appreciated comics in the game, Joe Mande for using such a niche idea to help out some great causes. If you want to be a cynical ass hole and be "like what's the big deal about a H list celebrity raising 4,700 bucks?", I suggest you get to stitching and try to raise more!
P.S. If you haven't listened to Joe's stand up before you have to watch his Award Winning Comedy-Special on Netflix.
Double P.S.
Olympic Podium of my favorites from The Week of Hats.
