Song of the Day: June 1st, 2021

​In honor of Pride Month, every Song of the Day for the month of June will be by an LGBTQ+ artist. If you're not an ally, you can scram from DOL!

I've been a huge Orville Peck guy since the first time I ever heard him and loved this song when it came out last year, but full disclosure, I legit JUST learned that "Smalltown Boy" is a cross-genre cover of an all-gay New Wave band, Bronski Beat. I had zero clue "Smalltown Boy" wasn't an original until I went to Youtube to add to this blog, but that only makes the song that much more powerful knowing it was written in the 80s. These stories are not new; they're just more in the open now. ​
