Via: https://www.yahoo.com/sports/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/hefty-vince-wilfork-in-espn-s--body--issue--what-will-reaction-be-132109016.html During his time with the Pats Vince Wilfork was one of my all time favorite players, I had his jersey, I wanted to wear #75 in HS because of him. Even with him gone I still love him, because he'll always be one of the my all time favorite athletes. Oh yeah and because he is size of a cruise ship. Last year during Hard Knocks it was tough to see him in those ugly Texans' uniforms with JJ Watt but at the same time, it was just nice to see and hear from the big man again. It was an amicable divorce between Vince and Pats, I'd say 85% of fans have no bad blood with him. I said as long as he doesn't sign with a team I hate I'll still love him, while I don't like the Texans it sure isn't as bad as the Jets, Ravens, Steelers or Broncos. You gotta remember Vince was on the Pats from 2004-2014, other than Brady until he left he was the most tenured Patriot, I grew up with this man, I've known who he is longer than I've known most of my friends. I even made a painting of him for art class when I was in high school, I love Vince Wilfork. Well even though they'll be no Vince on Hard Knocks, us Patriot fans that miss big old Vince will still get to see more than enough of him as he is going to be featured in ESPN the Magazine's Body Issue. For those of you who don't know what it is, basically they take naked pictures of elite athletes with something from their sport covering their junk or crazy dark lighting to show off how insane their bodies are without it being considered porn. Recently Prince Fielder was featured, but fuck Prince Fielder, he's not 1/2 the fatlete icon that big Vince is. He doesn't have the heart and personality. Nope not at all. So whenever this mag comes out you'll get to see top physical specimens like UFC fighter Conor McGregor, Super Bowl MVP Von Miller, WNBA star Elena Della Donne (who for someone in the WNBA is about as close a 10 it gets) and oh yeah and this guy too Vince Wilfork is a National Treasure. One part hall of fame caliber defensive linemen, thirty parts lovable goofy fat guy. Not a ESPN the Magazine guy at all anymore but I'll have to pick this up just to see what they do with #75.
P.S. Here's the painting...Still have it, not bad for a 17 year old doz who was/is also the world's most unartistic person

Song: I Got Mine Artist: The Black Keys Album: Attack and Release (2008) Rule of thumb, when I can't pick a SOD, just go with some classic Black Keys.
I still really can't believe the Cavs came back from down 3-1 against the Warriors, what's even crazier to me is how RICHARD JEFFERSON was a pretty big part of the Cavs' success. RJ has been floating around the association since 2001 but it seems longer than that. I'm pretty Richard Jefferson played in the NBA for at least 30 seasons, are we sure he never played in the ABA?
After the Cavaliers' won the championship RJ told Fox Sports Ohio that he doesn't want to talk about basketball at all and that he's retiring. Very odd interview overall but it caught my eye and I had to share it with all 10's of my loyal readers. I couldn't tell if he wanted to be that reporters GBF or jump her bones and start celebrating in the locker room. Apparently this was a segment called "was it something I said" which is something these two have done all season. From the looks of this interview RJ is either already smashed or low key the creepiest dude ever. Think he wants to write erotic essays now? Good for him?
Is it just me or is it a ridiculous look that this lady is wearing this boring ass plain black nike hat? It looks like she's pretty dressed up, nice jewelry on, with a black hat. I'm not a huge fashion guy but I can't image that look being hot in the streets.
But congrats on a remarkably solid career, RJ. Feels like just yesterday you and Jason Kidd were getting your asses kicked in the Finals against the Lakers and Spurs but now you're an NBA Champ, what a way to go out! Sucks the Cavs won those stupid sleeved jerseys last night. We didn't get one last chance to see Richard Jefferson's HORRIBLE shoulder tat. We'll probably never get to see it again. Song: Flavor of the Weak Artist: American Hi-Fi Album: American Hi-Fi (2001) S/o to anybody my age that remembers this song. 15 years old holy crap, so I was first heard this one hit wonder when I was 9. I guess I'm old? I think the fact that I'm blogging this on a Sunday answers how important the game is. First off, happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. Most under appreciated people on earth, dads.
Tonight marks the end of the 2015-16 NBA season, after tonight either the Golden State Warriors or Cleveland Cavaliers will be NBA champions. We all know the cliches, it's game 7, it's all on the line, blah, blah, blah. But tonight without question is the biggest game in years for the NBA. This series has been very weird to me, as it is tied 3-3, but no games have been decided by single digits. What is even weirder to me is that both teams have scored the exact same amount of points for the series, 610. That's never happened before in the NBA. The fact that the series could be so even despite blowouts is bizarre. The Warriors have won despite the fact that Steph Curry has not played like the unanimous MVP Steph Curry. The Cavs have gotten essentially no production out of Kevin Love. Yes the usual suspects of Lebron and Kyrie have played great but the Cavs have been relying on the most bizarre supporting cast in NBA history. Richard Jefferson who was a big part of the NBA Finals....in 2002 and 2003 is playing major minutes for the Cavs in 2016. Guys who were big parts of the Cavs 2015 run like Matthew Dellavedova or Timofey Mozgov have been non-factors. Given the circumstances you could honestly make the argument that this is the most important game of all time, IMO it is definitely the most important game of my basketball fandom lifetime. I'm not nearly as big of an NBA guy as I am NFL or MLB but I know a decent amount about league history. This game has SO much on the line for the legacy of the new face of the league, Steph Curry and for the old face of the league, Lebron James. Much is at stake for their respective franchises as well. Let me explain my reasoning to you. Let's start with GSW and Steph. Everybody knows the Warriors story. They went 73-9, just eclipsing the 95-96 Chicago Bulls regular season win record of 72-10. It was a hot topic around sports media, mainly ESPN and twitter if it was worth it for the Warriors to go all out for the record instead of resting for the playoffs. They went for it, and got it, and now are just one win away from capping off the season with a championship. However, the Warriors find themselves in an elimination game yet again. After coming back from down 3-1 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, now the Warriors find themselves on the other side of a comeback. As they are trying to avoid blowing a 3-1 series lead in the NBA Finals. Something that has never been done in NBA history (that fact blows my mind). Idk if it's my bias but all season I have I see a ton of the 2007 Patriots in the 2015-16 Warriors. There were talks of the Patriots being the greatest team of all time all season long even before the Super Bowl. Same with the Warriors. Tom Brady won MVP and broke the passing TD record, (Randy Moss broke the receiving TD record). Steph Curry was a unanimous MVP and broke his own 3 pointer record. They didn't rest starters. Neither did the Warriors. They went for blood. They wanted to be the best. They went for the perfect 19-0 season. Just like the Warriors went to get more than 72 wins. After starting hot they slowed down towards the end of the season but kept winning, instead of winning by 4 touchdowns they had to start grinding out wins. Similar to the Warriors. Yet they still were 18-0 and looked to beat a 10-6 frankly not very good Giants team. Obviously you can't go 82-0 in the NBA, so I've always thought of the win record as a similar accomplishment for the league. In the Super Bowl the Patriots didn't play great, but they still were in a position to win, they took the lead with like 2:30 minutes left and were that close to an undefeated season. But a series of miraculous events prevented them from perfection. The Warriors were up 3-1 and had blown out the Cavs in all 3 victories. They seemingly were going home to the Bay Area to close it out in 5. But Draymond Green got suspended and the series has slipped away, the Cavs have fought back and won two straight to force a game 7. Will the Warriors be able to hold on at home in a game 7 or will they end of being the NBA's version of 18-1? If the Warriors lose will they be remembered as chokers like the 07 Pats? Because make no mistake about it, if the Warriors lose this game it is a HUGE choke, and IMO worse because it's a in a series not just one game, but until like 3 days ago nobody hated the Warriors like the Patriots are hated. Will they face the same scrutiny? In all sports we talk about "the best to never_______" Best teams/players/coaches to never win a championship, in sports like football or baseball I feel like there are concrete answers for best teams to not finish the job, the 2007 Patriots are clearly that team, if the Warriors lose tonight will that become their lasting legacy? As for Steph, this season was HIS season, all the highlights, the 400+ 3 pointers, the game winners, the half court shots he seemed to hit once a games, he was something else to see. After all he accomplished he became the first unanimous MVP in league history, something that didn't sit well with Lebron fans (Stans). But if he loses this series with a superior team to Lebron James and is clearly out played by Lebron how can you not say Lebron is still the best player in the league? I'm not even a Lebron guy but if the Warriors lose to Lebron after everything that they accomplished this season it is a bad look for both the team and Steph individually. Even though he still has years left, and probably more titles left in him, tonight's game is enormous for Steph's lasting legacy. Either 2-0 with the best team in NBA history, or 1-1 and the only team to ever blow a 3-1 lead in the Finals (WITH 2 GAMES at HOME including GAME 7). The Crying Jordan faces will be out in full force should the Warriors lose tonight. As for Lebron. I've hated Lebron for over a decade. He's a great talent, but he was a big rival to my Celtics for 5 years and I really hate who he is off the court, but throughout this series even I have began to appreciate how good he is at basketball. Lets start with a fact: Lebron is 2-4 in the NBA Finals. It's big knock the critics have against him. With a loss tonight it would drop Lebron to 2-5 in the NBA Finals. At 31 years old it would be EXTREMELY unlikely for him to be able to finish his career with a wining record in the finals or even .500. Lebron would need to go 4-0 to finish 6-5 which I just don't see happening. Yes, for some of his Eastern Conference Championships (2007) it was just an accomplishment to get there, but it's still an L. It may not be fair but that's how it goes. If Lebron and the Cavs lose tonight there is a 0% chance Lebron retires with a winning record in the NBA Finals. With Michael Jordan at 6-0, perfect. That will be the ultimate trump card when talking legacies. However, should Lebron and the Cavs win tonight. It will move Lebron to 3-4 all time in the Finals. With his 3rd championship coming with a 2nd franchise, back home in Cleveland, for a city that has not won a Championship since 1964. 52 years since a team with Cleveland in it's name to win a World Championship. Quickly, this is the most important game for Cleveland probably ever. A win tonight gives the city a championship. Think about that, how close this loser city is to ending it's misery, at least for a little while. Plus if the Cavs win it means they came back from a 3-1 hole against statically the greatest (regular season) team in NBA history. Should he be able to pull that off, it will be quite the feather in the cap for the career legacy that is Lebron James. Nobody has ever come back from down 3-1 in the FINALS. Plus also from the mathematical standpoint, although it would be difficult, there would definitely still be a possibility that Lebron could retire with a winning or even record in the NBA Finals. 4-4 would look a hell of a lot better than 2-5 or worse (obviously). So to recap what I could've blogged in a paragraph. There is a ton at stake for the league's two biggest stars. If GSW wins, it means record wise, this the greatest team ever. You may think their is a Bulls, Lakers or Celtics team better but they will have the numbers to back it up. Steph will have 2 league MVPs and 2 championships in 2 years. That will be huge. But if they lose it is one of the biggest chokes in the history of sports. Talk about two completely different legacies. For Lebron, there is MUCH more on the line, as time is becoming a factor now for him, he can't play forever. A win tonight brings him back to 3-4 in the finals, gives Cleveland a championship and just overall means a lot more to his legacy then Steph's. Obviously a loss of the Warriors would hurt, but they're (semi) young and still have a window. With Lebron the clock is running out, obviously he isn't done and could still win another championship but it is no guarantee. There is a lot more at stake for King James tonight. It's crazy that this one game matters so much but it does. We will all be watching history enfold in front of us tonight. As for the game itself, I'm very torn. History says the Warriors should win, teams playing a game 7 at home in the Finals are like 15-3. Road team hasn't won since I believe 1978 when the Bullets did but that doesn't mean the Cavs can't win. Vegas has GSW as a 4.5 point favorite, I love to gamble but am staying away. I want the Cavs to win, which is crazy coming from me but my hate for Lebron has died down as I've aged, I feel really bad for Cleveland and think they deserve it, but all the shit talking from Lebron dick riders that would come with a championship makes it really hard to root for. I hate to sound like my mom but I really just want a good game, game 7's are very rare and when they stink it sucks. But you know what screw it, I have nothing to lose, I'll take the Cavs tonight. I want Cleveland to win and I'd like to see my man Don get one ring in his lifetime. Let's just hope it isn't rigged and is a good game.
Rex Ryan has often voiced his distain for the Patriots, hell he even beat them in Foxboro in the playoffs, yet I can't hate the guy. I mean I know why, It's 100% because he's a goofball fat guy. As one of those guys it is impossible to dislike others. It's like a fraternity, or the mob, once you're in, you're in for life. It doesn't matter if Rex got his stomach stapled or if I've eaten nothing but shakes for 4 months, once a fat goof ball, always a fat goof ball, fat is more a state of mind than anything. You can be 140 and be a fat guy.
I'd be lying if I said the tandem bike isn't helping their cause because it 200% is. If you are anti-tandem bike stop reading DOL because I don't need or want you. I've wanted a tandem bike for at least 4 summers. But they're like 1000 bucks which is insane. A tandem bike can be the funniest thing in the world if the circumstances are right and boy are they right. We have about 650 pounds of twin brother NFL coaches on bicycle. Now the fact that him and and his brother are finally coaching together it's double trouble with the Ryan Bros. Because for every pound Rex lost, Rob gained. Nobody embodies what it means to be in buffalo than this guy.
I can't wait for the Bills to start like 3-1 when Brady is suspended. Hell they may even beat the Pats with Jimmy G and everybody will be saying this is the year in the AFC East where the Pats get knocked off, to watch out for the Bills. Then the Pats will still go 12-4 and the Bills finish 9-7 as an absolute best case scenario. I'll love the Ryan brothers as long as they aren't a real threat and I don't see that being an issue for the foreseeable future.
For the second time in three days it is the anniversary of a Boston championship. I guess that's what happens when you win 100 championships in a decade and a half. Today on DOL we honor the 2007-08 Boston Celtics. The New Big 3. It'd be impossible to do an 07-08 Celtics story without their video intro. Chill city. That KG scream still fires me up. After a horrible 24 win 2006-07 season the Celtics traded for Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett which helped turn the Celtics from one of the leagues worst teams to one of the best. The 07-08 C's won 66 games in the regular season. A 42 win turn around. The Best in NBA history. Complete culture change. They Were about each other, they were a family. Unbutu. "I am because WE are". One of my all time favorite seasons of my life for any team. In the playoffs they struggled on the road. It took 7 games to get past the Atlanta Hawks who were a sub .500 team I believe. Then they beat the Cavs in a classic 7 game series. Lebron v. Paul Pierce in game 7 is one of my all time favorite games. They both went off, Lebron just edged Paul in points at 45 to 41 but the Celtics beat the Cavs 97-92. Don't expect anybody to watch a 12 minute highlight video but here you go. Finally against the Pistons the Celtics lost a home playoff game which worried me as they were 0 for on the road. Luckily they won twice in Detroit to win the Eastern Conference, the great mid 2000's Pistons last good team. In the Finals it was just like the 60's and 80's Celtics v Lakers. It was awesome to get to experience that rivalry at the highest level. Biggest game that stands out to me is game 4. Celtics were leading the Lakers 2-1, the home team had won all 3 games. C's were down by 24 and it looked like the Lakers were gonna tie the series up. The C's fought back and won to go up 3-1 in the series and basically put it on ice. Lost game 5 but went back to Boston up 3-2 and dismantled the Lakers in game 6. Such an ass beating that it almost took away from the win because it was never in doubt, sometimes in sports its almost better to sweat it out. Just look at Super Bowl XLIX. My biggest take away from this Celtics team was all the guys that contributed. Obviously you have the starters, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo and Kendrick Perkins but they had a great bench as well in Eddie House, Tony Allen, James Posey, PJ Brown, Sam Cassel, and my man Leon Powe. What else stands out is those split face "there can only be one" commercials during the playoffs. That shit was creepy af. When I think 2008 Playoffs those commercials almost come to mind faster than the fact the Celtics won the Championship. After the C's won we saw the first gatorade bath in NBA History. Learned that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE And Shaq asked the age old question "how my ass taste?" to Kobe Bryant after the Celtics took home the title. It's embarrassing how much I love this song. Means so much to me. Can't believe it was 8 years ago that the Celtics won the Championship. I was a sophomore in high school, it happened right as the school year ended... 8 years ago good God. Thank you to the 07-08 Celtics. Song: Reflektor Artist: Arcade Fire Album: Reflektor Old people on Facebook please stay away unless you can have a good laugh (at my expense)I'm just gonna be frank here, I SUCK at talking to girls. Being a big dude always messed with my confidence. Luckily I'm getting in shape, which has helped with the whole confidence thing so I'm ready to start putting myself out there again. But I really have no idea what I'm doing. No idea how to approach women or have game. I dated a girl on and off for like two and a half years, and have had a few other things happen but other than that I'm basically a virgin. I really haven't tried a lot since her, I'm just wicked awkward, like possibly on the spectrum awkward. To the point where it's stopped me from trying, so let's just say I'm no Casanova. Now that I've lost 100+ pounds and counting I'm giving it another shot. Obviously I'd like to meet someone in real life, but I'm gonna do everything to increase my odds. That being said. Ladies, I am available. So someone told me about OkCupid the other day and I decided okay, I'll give this a shot, why not? Well let me tell you, idk if they work or not since I just signed up last night but their questionnaire is bananas. Some of the weirdest questions I've ever read. I'm gonna share some of the ones that really jumped out to me and what they made me think. Let's begin with what started it all, some questions were normal(ish) then this comes up: Listen, I love animals (for the most part) but this question is insane. I was gonna say no animal life is more valuable than a human life but that's not true, because there are dogs more valuable than people but I don't think this question is referring to dogs, more like barn yard animals which literally don't matter, they're food. Sorry not sorry. Just a weird question for a dating site. This really messed with me. If being polite to a girl is considered insulting and sexist I think I'm done with everything. So dumb. Very touchy subject to get into on the blog but this really stuck out to me just because 'a few times a year" was a possible response. Lie city for whoever clicks that. Duh bro, it's 2016. I may be an ass hole but I'm not that big of an ass hole. I'd like to think DOL is a gay friendly blog. I may poke fun once and a while but I think nobody should be off limits. Of course I'm cool with gay parents. Rather have a gay couple raising a kid(s) who actually want to be parents than some fuck up scumbag teenagers that are just gonna raise another fuck up and keep the cycle going. BIG TIME YES. If this makes me a "sexist pig" then I'll gladly wear that hat. I'm not saying you have to shave every single day, but I don't want a chick with legs like mine, sorry. As for arm pit hair, that shit is vile. It takes 2 seconds to shave them ladies I don't think that's asking for much. What I want to know is who the fuck trims their armpit hair? That's almost worse than just letting it grow. Who wants a little bit of armpit hair? This question geeked me out last night. It's like they know exactly who I am. Just cutting right to the chase, I like your forwardness. I'd like to find a GF but obviously if this happened I wouldn't be mad. I'm only an adult when it is convenient to me. Now it's like they know exactly who is filling out the questionnaire. Shit got weird. I plead the 5th. As an overweight man I REALLY, REALLY want to be able to say yes here but I cannot. I know the truth. No I'm a normal person. What sucks is even if I was into this I'd be the idiot who accidentally kills someone then ends up in jail because I suck at foreplay Absolutely, and for my sake the sooner the better. Brains are very important too, babe. Gotta know this. I guess I'm not an adult because this made me laugh. A reluctant no. This question might as well be "Have you ever in your life been 14 years old?" The grammar made me cringe. If you're over 8 years old you have to know the difference. I have a group chat that is just constant wrong usage that makes me want to KMS. HARD NO. If this makes me a bad person then I guess I'm a bad person. I know we have to be accepting of everything in 2016 but I'm not dating a person with HIV. Sorry. Rape and fantasy are two words that shouldn't mix. That being said I'll answer that with this, I'm all about pleasing my girl. Her call. Yes, it's called family. Hypothetically, are fat guys with small wieners good at porn? OKCupid is trying to get me trouble. It all depends on the season and how I'm doing. Currently not gambling but let's not carve that in stone. Also I know this is a double standard but I can't date a gambler. Can't have two broke people in a relationship. Although the idea of playing roulette with a girl I love is very intriguing. If there's one thing I want you to know about me it's this: I'm a fantastic tipper. You better be too. I have a lot of respect for people in the service industry. Wording it that way makes it sound so much worse. That being said it's 2016. Let's hope my mom isn't reading this blog. This question really fucked me up. I was quick to say no but, then I got all deep and sentimental, maybe they do. I can be swayed in either direction, much like a tree. HAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAH. Yes. In all seriousness, YES. Happiness is not worrying about bills which would not happen if I was rich. Also in a non shallow answer I could do a lot of great things with a bunch of extra money so yes I believe money CAN buy happiness but it's not a guarantee. Big time yes, everything a person likes and does IMO reflects intelligence. Do you enjoy one of the 5 best parts about being alive? hmmmm Deep AF. I just went with the basic bitch answer and said Einstein. Nobody ever says "look at Mozart over here" when referring to a smart person or being sarcastic. Maybe this is going over my head, but WTF does this even mean? Reluctant yes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Man, you're cutting too deep. I said Fucked Up when they are probably just kind of fucked up. First thing I'm doing when I get a real job with dental is getting invisalign No wtf. (it's okay) Seeing as it's the only thing that will give me confidence to approach girls, hard yes. GTFO. (Unless it's my dog that I don't yet own) Only when I win an NBA championship or have a kid. So it's been a while. Sorry, but I'm huge hair guy. I have great hair, you need to as well. I just love long hair. I want a feminine partner. Unless you're on chemo short hair a dealbreaker. I feel like I should know what this means because I have a history degree. But I don't, I'll put my hand up for that. Sorry. Only a few left. Let's finish strong. I read online constantly, but have read maybe 5 books in my entire life for pleasure. TV. IDK about complete goth, but I did shop at Hot Topic a lot in 7th grade. Really liked studded belts and emo music. This question has the same answer as "are you breathing currently?" Also goes well with the gambling question. Sneaky the most important question. This let's me know if you're fun or not. People that hate halloween are the worst. I want, no I NEED a girl who is fun and likes to have fun. I LOVE Halloween. Missed it this year for the first time ever because I was visiting my sister in Florida. Still not over it.
So I guess that's it. I answered probably 100 more questions but these are the ones I felt like sharing. Hope you enjoyed this blog, I thought it was funny. Let's see maybe this survey will help me find the next Mrs. Dozo. Song: The Wanderer Artist: Dion Album: Runaround Sue (1961) Going way, way back for today's SOD. Dion is the king of touchtones around town thanks to my friends. Dude released Runaround Sue and The Wanderer as back to back singles. Talk about being on fire. Also the two songs lyrical content couldn't be any more different. Runaround Sue is about his whore girlfriend breaking his heart going around town mucking it up, while the Wanderer is when Dion has had enough and decides he's gonna basically become Runaround Dion. You know what, screw it I'm including both songs today. Both are older than my mom but amazing songs, gotta give the edge to Runaround though. |
